The training department for the most part in fine.

The biggest problem is Piedmont hires a lot of low time pilots. Couple this with the AQP program which was basically designed to train already seasoned commercial pilots, and you get a higher washout rate. Naturally most people will blame everyone except themselves for their failure, and thus I believe is the main reason PDT training gets such a bad rap.

IMO opinion the training department has gotten a lot better in the last 3 years.

Makes sense! Than why hire the 300 hour pilots to "hope" they pass training? Seems like a waste of money. Are they that desperate of pilots and just "hope" they make it through "AQP" training? Seems like a numbers game to me instead of pilot development/training

Default Training manager ??!?

Yea I heard some horror stories about the training manager, Jay or something like that? Anyway the stories I heard sounded fairly ridiculous. It seemed like they wont work with new hires and appears as though the AQP program doesn't work too well for two new FOs. when they don't have any captain upgrades. Any Thoughts?

Doesn't sound promising to a new hire! I heard 12 total new hires were sent home from the past 2 classes at PDT (June/August)

Dashtrasher- you should maybe do you're homework if your a low time pilot before showing up to PDT class. From what I have gathered its all a numbers game. Protect your future and the certificates in your pocket. You dont want a failure on your record because you were forced through "AQP"

I'm glad I read these and ask others in the company. They have told me the truth and shot it straight.

I think I may pass

Honestly I thought the AQP program was difficult but not overly hard. as long as you have a basic understanding about how a turbine engine works and how some of the different systems work. There was nothing that caused any difficulty besides the rote memorization of the limitations. From what I have heard (we did not have a single person leave during sim) most people have been let go because they can't fly steam. The AQP director is a piece of work to say the least but the instructors are first class and they actually do try and help people I have a buddy who just got signed off but his partner was let go because they had tried for three sim lessons to sign him off. Just do the tests and study the packets a little and you will be fine

Sent in my resume a month ago, not a peep from PDT. Times are 1100 TT 120ME.
