A little off topic, does anybody know the typical class schedule during indoc at PDT? Is there class on weekends? Hoping to drive home and see the pregnant wifey on the weekends. Thanks.

From what I remember they may have a half day on Saturdays for tests. Sims all bets are off. I'd prepare to basically not see her too much during training unless you get a break before sims.

How can you upgrade if you dont have the 250 hours PIC? It is a requirement to get an ATP. The airlines wont be able to get around it unless the FAA changes it. The only way to be okay is to build time on your own.

It's been waived in the past at PDT and that's a fact. Read the reg again. The part about SIC time performing duties of PIC was interpreted differently than it is now. That loophole is closed now.

Anyway, I've heard that if the new reg remains unchanged PDT will start giving full type ratings and ATPs to all F/Os who meet the requirements.

My understanding is the company APD's can only issue an ATP to an upgrade. Perhaps, if this is true, training can discuss changes with the FAA to allow SIC's that meet the requirements to get an ATP.

I have never heard of a restriction like this, (also when I was an APD at PDT I didn't have this limitation) ...... The only requirement is that they are employees of the air carrier. That being said I don't see PDT doing a type for FO's due to the FAA approved training curriculum for PDT still requires a minimum level of training that would need to be met so there is no real saving for the company. Plus giving a type makes you more marketable something I am sure your management does not want.

According to the CP the plan is to type everyone by August 2013. That's the only way to satisfy the new regulation as it stands today. I say as of today because I think the industry is fighting hard to have "exemptions" made as seen in the recent WSJ article.

Question for anyone recently through training. On the three take home test you are required to score 90% to start training. What happens if you don't score score 90%? Are you given a chance to correct and then start training or are you terminated and sent home immediately?
The questions are not really hard but some are worded in a way that makes them fairly tricky.

When I started years ago, if you did not get a 90% on the tests, you were sent home. Dont sweat it though, make sure you guys all meet in the lobby of the hotel the night before you turn them in on the first day and go over the tests. If you have any questions when doing the tests, feel free to send me a message or any of the other PDT pilots on here and we can help answer them for you. It looks overwhelming but I promise you, it is actually pretty easy stuff.

I heard Piedmont is a good place to work for. Especially the training departments laid back attitude and willingness to work with new hires. Any truth to this?
