Posted today on the site. Kind of weird they would post this. Wonder if they are thinking they are going to run out of qualified guys after all those 200 hour pilots were hired.
SUBJECT:
Upgrades / 2013 ATP Requirement
We are anticipating posting a bid on October 3, 2011 which will contain 6 Captain Positions
effective November 1, 2011 or upon completion of training. Additionally we are anticipating
additional upgrades in the near future. We have not received any changes to the FAA’s
requirement for all pilots to hold an ATP by August 2013. All First Officers should review the
requirements and determine if they meet or anticipate meeting the Airline Transport Pilot
certificate requirements by the August 2013 deadline.
In anticipation of upgrading we recommend you review the requirement for upgrade. In
accordance with Piedmont policy you must have 3000 hours total time, a current First Class
Medical and an ATP certificate or ATP written test results prior to bidding a Captain’s position.
Below is a link to the Code of Federal Regulations Part 61 Subpart G, Airline Transport Pilot.

You don't need 250 PIC to hold an ATP
- 250 hours of flight time in an airplane as a pilot in command, or as second in command performing the duties of pilot in command while under the supervision of a pilot in command, or any combination thereof
