PDT News and Rumors

There is currently an internal investigation going on right now with PDT because the 4 new hires were "forced to resign" to keep their wash out rate up. From what I was told managment is trying to keep it under the radar by paying the guys that left $8,000 each to keep quite.

Lol what's the incentive to keep the fail rate high?? I doubt pdt like wasting money on hotel and sims. If they want to fail the guys, they don't need to pay them off. Plenty of reasons to fail the new guys over minor errors.

I had heard from a mx controller we might only get 3 or 4 of them (old piedmont birds). The other 2 are original Mesa and I guess never had APUs. The APUs for the old HA tails will need to be reinstalled. This is just what I heard, don't know of any truth to it. I duno when they expect we might have em on property.

Just got off the phone with a friend who interviewed recently. Here are some of the things BT is telling interviewees in his welcome talk:
-The Mesa Dashes (all 6) are a sure thing (3 in Jan, 3 in Feb). This was given as the reason for the current batch of hiring
-The Training and MX departments are/have been (tense unclear in my friend's memory) going through Q400 training
-Although upgrades are slow at the moment, things are about to start moving really quickly
-30-40% of all Mainline new-hire classes are intended/reserved for pilots from the wholly-owns!

US Airways cancels winter service to Telluride
"The airline previously used Dash 8 aircraft because they were suited for the airport, which is the country’s highest commercial airport. The airline’s fleet of Dash 8 turboprops is now stationed at LaGuardia Airport in New York, instead of Phoenix."
Gotta love the news media. First off, they do not seem to realize that the Dash-8 aircraft that flew into TEX were operated by sub-contractor mesa airlines. As such, those aircraft were certainly not owned nor operated by any subsidiary company of US Airways Group.
And then to really screw things up, they mention the fleet of Dash-8 turboprops that the airline does have (operated by Piedmont Airlines, of course) are now stationed in LGA! Of all places, the crew base that was just closed down is apparently where the Dash-8 fleet is now stationed. Who knew?!?
