Heard that a few new hires were let go because they were having trouble in the sim with the round dials.

How dare someone make them learn how to fly something other than glass.

Hell all I fly know is the round stuff mixed every now and then with some glass. The transition is painless, but if all you know is glass.....

Poor guys. Now they have to go work for a jet operator that has glass.

I don't know anyone that learned how to fly using only all glass. Even at riddle they have 6 pack training despite most of the fleet consists of glass. It's not a hard transition either way. Don't get why people get all high and mighty about one over another.

I didnt fly anything with round gauges until I had about 400 -450 hours, Transition wasnt bad. Your right after awhile there is no difference. I actually really like the set up in the Saab

I just don't get what is so hard about the six pack, it gives you the same information. I fly both regularly and prefer the round dials, to me its simpler.

BTW... Start class Oct 11, anyone else in the class feel free to pm and get in touch.

A six pack requires a larger scan. Some newer pilots were never taught how to scan. The field of vision to see the instruments in a glass cockpit is much smaller so a pilot can get by with a lack of a scan. In a six pack, this lack of skill is magnified greatly. That's where the problems happen.
