I have a grievence pending for this same thing that happened to me over a year ago. The contract is kinda gray about this situation, but my interpretation, and a few people in the union agreed, is that the RTG leg counts as the CLT-GSP leg, and the return trip is cancelled, so you should get paid for the return trip in ints entirety. Our contract is a leg by leg contract, there should be no trip averaging.
For example, if you go over 5 min on CLT-GSP, and 5 under coming back, your pay doesn't average to be block for both, you get an extra 5 minutes, so it shouldn't average with a cancelled leg in my opinion either.
I'll let you know how the grievence goes, but who knows how many more years that will take....

La Belle Epoch
A time once existed where people of the same trade trusted one another, fear was not a word often uttered and fright was an adjective even less frequent. They counted on each other for safety and were able to predict the types of situations they might encounter as a group. As a coalesced unit they had a very firm understanding of the way each other worked and were almost psychic in their prediction of each other’s needs. We have recently lost this understanding and cooperation and are very soon to be placed in a tumultuous situation in which we have a very vague understanding of one another and a very limited shared view and even smaller toy chest of shared experiences to draw upon. Despite what our leaders think we are not one group, we are but five small and fractured groups, with distinct views and preferred methods that are drastically different from one another. As is usually the case our fearless leaders have taken an unbroken machine and torn it asunder into a thousand different bits that no longer talk to one another and no longer care to. The Piedmont crew base at LGA was a decidedly unique and beautiful thing that developed out of god-knows-what kind of situation and was allowed to grow and shrink as it might until, for whatever reason, our leaders decided a group of crews that enjoyed their lives was no longer productive to their bottom line, or whatever and a stop to this must be initiated.
No longer shall these people enjoy their lives working for a sub-par airline, no, we shall take any promise of these people living a regular life away from them, they shall abide by our insane rules of living in the backwoods of the East! I think I heard commander Farrow once utter these very words, maybe. Maybe not.
Anywho, Thus goes on the lives of these poor souls who thought they once had a future and once perhaps enjoyed their lives. Thus goes on their march towards certain doom and certain failure as we all must endure. What we once believed to be our protectors have surely become our antagonists and they will surely be our demise in some form or fashion.
Thank you for taking our trust and belief in a system and completely destroying our good will and hard work. Never a better system of engendering good will existed.
...of course i'm being a little dramatic, but isn't that what this career is all about?. . .
