Well after reading most the responses on this thread, it appears that a typical day involves filling out applications to other airlines?

Remember the scene in Shawshank Redemption where Andy "crawled through a river of $h.t"...

It's a lot like that, but unlike Andy who gets a rain "shower", you can never catch a "shower" so basically when you're not there, you're still permanently covered in the $h.t and stink.

Ya, it's like that.

I doubt he does, because it doesn't suck at Skywest like it does at PDT (as a matter of fact, I here he's doing quite well over there. ;-) ) Let the man have some poetic freedom... I for one swam through that sewer for a few years. Loved the crews and loved flying the Dash, hated working for PDT. I fly an old piston twin 402 now and couldn't be happier, to show you how things were at PDT.

Other regional airlines!

PDT has become a sub-regional for FO's unfortunately. The same is only partially true for the CA side, as only some major airlines have been looking less favorably on turboprop pic. In the past year somewhere around 80 PDT FOs have jumped ship to other regional airlines hoping to establish jet pic.

I don't even complain here. I absolutely love my job, the company, and the people I've worked with so far (except one guy, but hey every place has that 1-2%).

If this place paid better (like a major), I'd stay here till I retire.

So to answer your question Dashtrash300, EMPHATICALLY NO I do not complain that much at Skywest, actually the opposite, I talk this place up and I'd be happy to go out of my way to help those I know get in here so they can find a measure of happiness and job satisfaction that is a universe away from the misery found at PDT. I am as happy as can be, in a way I never thought I'd be in this career after being at PDT. Working here is honestly the 2nd greatest source of satisfaction in my life second to my wife and our awesome kittens.

I'll put it this way, I'm like a rescued animal. I was skeptical at first that I had it this good, now I've begun to trust and enjoy "life"/working again. But if I ever see the person that abused me, I'll hiss, attack, bark at, etc at them.
That "person" is Piedmont, any time I hear about the shady crap they pull, I get mad. Any time someone thinks about going there, I want them to know what they are walking into, because I can't in good conscience sit back and not say anything especially when someone is asking about or planning to go to such a toxic and abusive place.

Be it a 402, a DHC-8, CRJ or 747, pay people to do their job (without cheating them out of pay), and treat them like professionals, with respect and dignity, and people will find enjoyment and satisfaction in what they do. You will never find that at PDT, and that's half the reason why I will always continue to "Hiss at" Piedmont, they are the abuser that will never change.

Trash, you should apply for a management position, with your steady defense of the company as far back as the "apologize to Jay" thing, and downplaying the (to put it mild-ly) "frustrations" of your fellow PDT pilots, you'd do well.

You know I would never do management. The only reason I brought up that Jay thing back when was because you acted like a 5 year old rather than a professional. I hate Piedmont as much as the next person. I hate the 50-60 year old captains who are holding up my career. The only reason I didn't move onto SkyWest was because of a family problem I recently went through. Up until the LGA closing I thought it was dumb to jump with the amount of people leaving. Crappy airline maybe meant quicker upgrade. Now with LGA closing I know that isn't going to happen. I am searching for other options, believe me.

Don't think about it in this fashion; they're not holding your career up. You just need to make the moves required to further your career. Rocketman, Piedmontster, others, and myself have all moved on. Yeah, we all had to start over at the bottom of the list, but at this point, your seniority at PDT is just a sunk cost.
