I heard from another pilot that Piedmont's Pilots will be going on strike in the next few weeks. Any truth to this?

not exactly, there is informational picketing going on this thursday in lga and clt to protest the lack of fruitful negotiations and the general mistreatment by the company.

i heard that supposedly we were almost released to a 'cooling off' period a couple months ago by our mediator because they had gotten to an impasse in negotiations. its grown that contentious and they haven't even gotten to the important sections such as compensation, scheduling, etc.
so i wouldn't be surprised to see that there could be a strike vote sometime in the future.

problem is there's too many southern putz's who are company people or just dont care because they live in base, and are 'happy to have a job' so they don't uphold the contract to serve their own self interests

here's what the spc put out a lil while ago

Actually, your statement here is the problem. The group your complaining about is the same group who nearly shut the place down years ago to pull the pilot group out of the company induced toilet. Things change, but if a strike happens, they'll be walking the line same as you.

Funny you degrade half of your pilot group and then in the same sentence complain about people who don't serve their own interests.

The problem with the North vs. South crap is that you are actually defeating your own self interests by propogating that mantra. The division created by "my base is better than your base" only serves to weaken the collective morale of the group and doesn't prod even 1 single company man into line.

If you feel otherwise, please provide 1 example of anyone who has "come to Jesus" as a result of the North vs. South argument.

The bases aren't even that far apart, the farthest spread between bases is 375nm!

North vs. South is utter BS as there are just as many "company men" up North as there are down South. The guy who won the award for not calling in sick for 23 years; where is he based again?

Company men are everywhere [even at other companies!], and you will never get them to see things your way with mockery and ridicule.

i hope you are right, but lots of the original pdt guys are the ones that went for the contract as it exists now years back, i never heard anything about pdt supposedly being almost shut down at any point in 'recent' history, when was this?

i dont degrade, just point out the facts that involvement by persons at southern bases is considerably less than those in the northern bases. but i'm really not sure what you're trying to say with the self interest part, i think you misunderstand what i was saying...

but overall involvement is sickeningly low across the board at pdt (just look at any ballot counts over the past few years)
i dont know who this not sick for 23 years guy is, thats a new one to me
i agree company men are everywhere, but there is a greater per capita distribution in the old pdt bases than the former alg ones.
its not the actual distance thats the factor, its the difference in attitude about working here which you cannot disagree is widely divergent from the former alg bases (even those former pdt that have come to them at least in lga) and the old pdt bases.
i speak out of frustration from lack of involvement from this entire group with a skew to greater involvement (what little it is) from one area over another

Yeah that's another way of PDT giving us the finger. After S.F. said on ask piedmont there will be a class of four upgrades, i guess it did not take him long enough to change it's mind.

last I heard was that there was a freeze after the July Class. They hadn't hired a August one yet. no that may have changed since I heard that from BT. My friend has an interview on the 15th so we will see what class that is for

In reference to cooling off, we need a strike vote 1st, that means stop with the north south bull ****. This place sucks no matter where you're at. Also with the contract negotiation chart a few posts back you can't have any "black" sections. Everything needs to have crossed the table with an obivous impasse.

Curious why anyone with 1000+ hrs would even consider pdt, no offense, why not repubic? No contract, no new planes, parent company who loves our ground ops and doesnt want to put any money in the flight ops, no automation, outdated base structure, more terminations than anyone else last year in the industry, oh yeah we're near the bottom in pay and our payroll dept cant even pay you correctly on top of that.
