Piedmont actually has a pretty good contract, especially when it comes to vacation (as good or better than many mainline), min days, and a few other areas which I can't recall right now. However you are going to have to fight them tooth and nail for every inch of it and put the unions number in speed dial. By the way they love when you know the contract and demand it, it makes lots of friends in the chief (pilet's) office when you do. Good Luck with that, and bring lots of lube.

What a steaming pile the new company would be.
Could you imagine: J.O. as Prex/CEO. and S.F. as SVP/COO
What a nightmare.
And yes it could easily happen. USAir just bought 10% of Mesa, so they are definitely invested in not seeing Mesa fail. They also have a business arrangement outside of contracts now. USAir takes a "major controlling share" of Mesa in a stock for asset swap. Mesa assumes PDT's assets and liabilities, in return USAir assumes another 41% or more of Mesa. So that would explain how Mesa could do it. Mesa survives with their contract and work rules, and PDT employees take it up the pooper again without lube.
