And your PDT/PSA CREW PLANNING (aka 'scheduling') topic already has its own thread: Here

No shortcuts. By the books. When i have an airplane swap i take the full 30 min. Have to check all documents. When the release is wrong then i go inside find a pay phone and call dispatch. Same thing goes for when the airplane is broke. Everything get written up. And i spend 25min sometimes just looking for a pay phone. PSA doesn't pay for my cell phone and it isn't a requirement.
Want a Mesa airline then keep treating us like Mesa employees.

I expect some of the legally insane regional lifer old timers here to pull cry baby biatch stunts like heading off to a pay phone. But if I hop in with a young fresh captain on reserve who's pulling that crap and making my job more miserable and stressful, it ain't gonna fly.
And for some of you new captains.. you should be ashamed that you have already forgotten what it's like to be a FO. Don't be a cocky micro manager. It only reveals you're lack of confidence and ability.

Have you seen the schedules? Monday morning start at 6am and end day 5 at midnight. Yes they are tacking on one days on the back of 4 days. How about the 1 leg days? Followed by a two leg day, with a dead head. What a flippin waste of time. I hope i get to fly with you, i am on reserve and i fly slow to help the F/O's make some extra $$$. Because it doesn't matter to me at all if i overblock. I just like saving gas and helping others make some money. When the company steps up and offers us some QOL then i will be more than willing to help back.

90% chance we've already flown together. You're probably fine. I just like to take the miserable QOL we have and try to make the best of it, have fun, and hopefully enjoy sharing the cockpit. Hell, we're stuck here for now.. lucky to actually have a job in this climate. Just need to pay these horrible dues and move on!
I've been steering clear of the absurd 200 lines ever since PDT took them over. The 700 lines are better. Late shows/early finishes for the majority of the 4 days. I got lucky and got a 700 line for Nov. as well.
Stay away from karma that will turn you into a regional lifer. Stay away from the pay phone!

This is for the poolies that are waiting for a PDT class date. From the VP of Flight Operations, a General Update for October 6th:
"Pilot attrition has virtually come to a stop since July. We anticipate that there will be no pilot hiring required through the end of this year and into the first quarter of 2009."

this means that in Jan, they will say "attrition has come to a near halt, and we don't anticipate new class dates until the middle of summer.
and that means in April, they will say "attrition has come to a near halt, and we don't anticipate new class dates until late Fall of '09."
And so on, and so on, until 2010-2011 when the economy comes back.
