Clearly you don't!
Nope, just something that complies with our contract provisions for overnight hotels. The ELM hotel was a dump, so was Homestead.
Q: which complied with the contract?
A: ELM
Awesome, this hotel was for new hires, and as per contract it was acceptable. So was double occupancy.
We are not new hires anymore, recalls are NOT new hires either... So the new hire hotel is not acceptable... Trash, do you want to be sharing rooms with other crew members for your overnights because it works for the company?
Oh, and I do recall at least through Dec. 2007 all the upgrades and CQ classes were at different hotels than the Homestead...
So, the whole need for kitchens FOR NON new hires just FLEW right out the window. Wheeee!
Somebody's gotta hold up and wave the flag. Remember Mel Gibson in the Patriot? Who Dat?

you're obviously way to naive to not realize that jay in particular, has a grudge against pilots already, hence his childish response in last weeks AP
that is exactly the forum it should be in, theres too much of the old "well i'm not gonna complain cause no one else is" mentality, especially from those southies
there was nothing 'profane' that i could tell, and last i checked this was a free country, and people were allowed to express their opinions in open forum. thats very magnanimous of you to want to fire your fellow pilot
maybe if you sign your name to your posts and email copies to jay he'll let you join the training dept since you so obviously wish to be a minion there and express the perfect skewed perspective to goose step nicely in line with them

I would not want you representing the rest of us. My main point was that you could have handled it better then posting it on Ask Piedmont where not only pilots, but flight attendants, agents, etc....can read it and see how immature you (a "professional" pilot) are as you represent the rest of us.

First I don't think you understand the meaning of "magnanimous".....other words for it are generous, fair, noble, upright and worthy. So you think it is fair for him to get fired? Or is he worthy of getting fired? Obviously you disagree with me so I wanted to make sure you got it right. Second, I would not, as a pilot want to see another pilot get fired. But if I was in management, I am sure I would have a different mentality. I am proud to be apart of our union and would never cross the line or do anything to jeopardize the image of our profession in the eyes of the public or management.
Finally, why would I want to be in the training department? So I can log like 20 hours a year and become a lifer here? No...I don't want to be 30 years old and still at Piedmont. I want to do my time and get out just like prison. I think that is as far away from being a brown noser that you can get. IMO

Okay, so maybe some people disagree with the style of Piedmonsters post on Ask Piedmont. But my first thought is, if he didn't do something about it, then who would? If you are one of the people who doesn't agree with what he wrote, then at the very least you should consider him a necessary evil. Without those complaints, they never would have changed the hotel. If you disagree with the way he wrote the post, then why don't you step up and try to fight for improvement in a way you think more appropriate?
My second thought is a litte more important. Although Piedmonsters posts about the training hotel may have been necessary to get something done, it did accomplish something else...
Considering the negotiations that we are currently undergoing, or lack thereof, we are only going to survive this as a unified pilot group. You know why management responded to the ridiculous post above and left some other more important questions unanswered? Because this was the perfect tool to get the pilots fighting each other. Once that starts, management can play us like a fiddle. We can kiss our contract good bye if we don't forgive these small things, and work together. You might not like Piedmonsters style, but you and he are both brothers at the same airline, both fighting for better pay and better work rules. Work through it and get over it. If you don't, you will most definitely contribute to the decline we are fighting so hard against...

I would have fired your ass for posting such profane and disrespectful material.

I want to do my time and get out just like prison.
Everyone should fight for this contract, whether they plan on staying ten more weeks or ten more years. We don't just fight for ourselves, but for those who come behind us. Military aviators on here will know what I mean. We should have that same wingman mentality. I myself don't plan on being here at PDT much longer, but I still am trying to do everything I can to help our union fight for a better contract. Everyone needs to have their eyes on the larger goal here. When we fight for and win a better contract here at PDT, it will give other regionals a goal to fight for as well, and ultimately benefits the entire regional industry. And again, maybe we won't be around to reap the benefits of this fight, but we will win it for those who come behind us...

the homestead was a motel
I told my alpa rep 2 years ago that it was in violation of our contract. nothing got done. if bucci is the one who got it done then I guess that's what it takes.
I don't think any of us expect the four seasons, but that motel was a joke.

One other thing. I can't know dashtrash's mindset so this is nothing against them. I just wanted to use this quote as an example only. There are two specific groups of pilots at PDT that are damaging to our pilot group, and to this industry as a whole. The first are the old timers who don't care about anything, so long as they get their paycheck. They just want to come to work, get paid, and retire as soon as possible. Their mindset is, "why should I fight for this contract? I'll be gone in a few years anyways, so it won't benefit me." The second group are those who just want to do their time and get out. They also seem to not care about negotiations, because they won't be around anyways.

Actually, the change was in progress before his posting which is a good thing. Just for spite, management would have kept us there afterwards. BTW, I read the contract and it merely states the words we've come to hate - will try.
