PDT News and Rumors
#1291
This is about a really old post from November 2009. But seeing as the Training Department obviously reads this forum religiously, I just wanted to clarify something for them, seeing as I got a lot of grief when I went to CLT. When I said this:
All I really burned were a bunch of old ratty uniform items that were headed to the dumpster anyways, as you can clearly see in the photo (ps - those M&H shirts are awful! Even if they weren't worn out, they were getting thrown out. They make good kindling though). No I didn't burn my manuals or Jepps. I figured that would've been obvious since I returned them.
ps - did I mention the Training Department reads this forum regularly? lol. And for what it's worth, I know some people were interested, my requalification went very smoothly. Three days of ground school and three days of sim. The first day of sim was pretty rough, since I hadn't flown in four months, but my instructor helped me knock all the rust off. Many thanks to S.A. for being a great instructor.

Since you are back on the line, can you tell us furloughed guys if anything was said about more recalls or if anything good was posted in the ask piedmont regarding more recalls?

Not even, from what I heard on 7 went through....and since 8 had left prior to the recall....the airline is still running at min staff for pilots. If the summer flying starts in March...we should be seeing something happening soon. I would hope.

Welcome to the life of a wholly own on USairways... PSA was min staff all last summer while PDT somehow managed to continue to be fat.... Expect to be used every day this summer while USairways/PDT/PSA try to run a summer schedule to save a few, FEW bucks on FO pay.... AMAZING how things never change here.... I will say, PSA's first round of recalls for the summer did not happen until March 28th! That was the date the phone calls went out last year... I would assume it would have to be done around the same this year to get anyone back online in time for summer... Best of luck to us all!

Correct, but reserves were not used nearly as much as USairways would have liked.... Much like PSA, all of RSV's were on the road every day of RSV last summer.... They did not have a day of RSV in which they did not get used.... I know talking to a LOT of PDT FO's in our Crewroom in CLT they have said, time and time again, they only flew months last summer of 30 hours etc..... Again it just seems to be USairways mindset (through PSA/PDT/Mainline) that if you are not flying close to guarantee you are not doing them any good.... Seems flawed majorly due to lack of coverage by all three, but it seems to be the way they want to run... Who knows why though... I hope all three have recalls!!! I really do...
