If you looking for anything above 15 days off, pdt isn't the place for you. Expect 11-15 days off line. Maybe one day it'll change once we get longer segment but don't expect too many days off as a junior person.

There're many good things here at pdt unfortunately schedule isn't one of them.

Come to pdt for fast movement/quick upgrade/pay/flow/stability and potential. Don't come here and expect many days off (at least for now)

You can't jumpseat in the cockpit till you complete your LOE checkride to be a qualified line pilot. That is really really important. There was an issue with people jumpseating that were not qualified and a group of unsuspecting mainline pilots got into a lot of trouble..
That's interesting... When I was at Trans States we were in CASS and were encouraged to jumpseat in the first week of groundschool. Did it all the time in training. Same for my friends at XJT, AWAC, Mesa, C5.... I think this no jumpseating thing may just be a PDT and/or AA thing. Either that, or majority of the airlines are breaking the rule.

We get jumpseat privileges at PSA once we have a badge, so not an AA thing. Must be a PDT thing.

The no jumpseat until training is complete rule is certainly a PDT thing. Frankly, I don't agree with it, but it's definitely not worth losing travel privileges over.

Are we positive its a hard set rule that you can't jumpseat prior to your checkride? My first week I was in CASS and KCM. I rode JS during my three month training vacation quite frequently. Didn't get in trouble, and I know for a fact the AA crew didn't either. I remember them mentioning not to JS, but it was just in passing and I haven't seen that rule written anywhere. CASS and KCM= jumpseat privilege as far as the FAA is concerned, right??

If you are in CASS you can jumpseat. CASS isn't predicated on you bring a qualified crewmember, it's based on security measures and your background. There are several companies that do intern programs that put the interns in CASS as well. Just be careful out there and don't screw it up getting back for training. That is where they will say I told you so.

It's not a PDT thing because the rule doesn't exist. If you're in CASS you're able to jumpseat wherever you want at Piedmont. I had a month off between ground and sim as a new hire and I jumped all over the place, and was encouraged to do so. Just don't get stuck anywhere and miss a training event.

Default Phone interview

Anyone have any info on the phone interview and what it's all about? Got the email this morning for it, responded immediately and now waiting for some kind of follow up...

Thanks all, hope to make it through the interview process.

Be yourself, be honest, put best foot forward, and know why you want PDT.

Good Luck!

I rode the JS a bunch of different places during my break from training too, never heard a thing. I did get some odd looks from an AA crew around month 2 when the beard was really coming in.

"They let you have a beard at Piedmont?!?" during cruise made my day lol
