I have an interview in about a week. Specifically on the written test I am using the Sheppard Air study guide. I was told by someone already that I didn't need to worry about the weight and balance section nor the FARs section. Basically that the test was mainly IFR questions. Just wondering if anyone could elaborate any further on focusing my study. Feel free to PM if you prefer.
Thanks

Hello all, I currently have a friend who has an offer from Piedmont for a February class. However he also have a job offer to fly Lear 35's for REVA in New York, as well as a third flying Phenom 100's, and 300's for Executive Airshare at KMKC. Always wanted to do part 135, but the way the airline industry is moving, Piedmont is tempting. Thoughts?

Charter work, wasn't for me.. i hate catering to people who think they are rich and treat the help like poop. I quit that job after 3 months. Lucky for me I already had the type ratings so i was never held to a training contract.
My life at pdt had been easy.. really easy.. a lot of time off.. great people.. and this year, as an fo on a turbo prop, I'll easily make over 70k all together with perdiem and extra work..
I don't miss flying around in an old worn out lear, no thank you.. and a little phenom single pilot or with a 250 hour kid next to me building time.. in the flight levels.. no thank you... ill take my old worn out dash doing 1 hour hops all day long..
Training contract... be very rary... you will get locked for 2 years.. if airlines really start to pay more or there is chance somewhere else, your stuck flying the lear or phenom around disgruntled. IMHO the lear and phenom type ratings are useless pos. If your getting on a global, Gulfstream or falcon, than you will have a career type rating.

Plus, if I, for some reason, wanted to go back to contract flying, I'd have an EMB-145 type. There are a few operators out there who fly the 145 and are looking for someone with 121 experience. They may not be the first choice, but I have that option. It's always good to have options.
As a lot of people said to me on another paid forum, if you want to be taken seriously later in life, go 121. You don't have to stay, but get the great training and experience that it offers.

Anyone know what proportion of newhires are going to the 145 vs the Dash these days? Neighbor's son has an upcoming class....

I asked about dash new hires, didn't seem like as of now they are hiring any more dash guys. My upgrade class is 6 current FOs, no new hires. Makes more sense to hire directly to jet than to waste 3 months of time and money getting new hires through a slowing dash program.
