Don't bother with him, Moon, he won't believe what is true. He seriously thinks it was Jerry at Skywest that got them the contract. The reason ASA got the contract was because they started the Fly Safe campaign and put the screw to management. Gas costs a lot these days, hopefully the guys at Pinnacle can start to fly safe as well, I would guess a new contract in... 1 month.
wow. you think the last couple of months made the difference? really? do you know what their performance was like the previous 4 and a half years? it was the same as the last couple of months.
uncle jerry is the one that got the contract. and he fired the ceo right after that.

Warren Buffet's biggest fan, and most identical investor just bought 33%. of Pinnacle Airlines Stock! This investor has averaged 25% return each year for the last decade!!! From my research Pinnacle has a history of rockin' "Memphis Style" (birthplace of rock and roll). Their on time performance has been unbelievable for years. From the ALPA magazine it appears that for a while the union implied of a slow down. Playing with fire may have bit them with the economy slowing down, oil at all time highs and disorganization in general of the Union.
As for Continental, they may avoid bankruptcy just fine...but layoffs WILL happen. Sorry, I've been there before. Save whatever you can. Use the time off to learn a new trade perhaps. I hope I'm wrong on that. They laid off just a few years ago...recalled....then furloughed.
Do you invest when stocks are high or low? Likewise, invest your livelihood in that same company (your job). Why work for a company that you would not invest in? For security, I'd invest in PNCL and not CAL. PNCL is positioned very well. From an investors viewpoint....PNCL is a better pick. Companies go through highs and lows. Hopefully the Union won't immaturely kick PNCL management in the stomach while they are on the rise....but rather race besides them towards the finish line working together, like SWA ie.
All the best to both of your companies.
And all the best to those at the bottom of a major airline seniority list during these tough times.

Umm, PCL is not SWA. Sorry. It is PCL mgt. that is doing the kicking in the stomach, not the other way around.

i'd say PCL is just as safe or safer than anyone right now. they have lots o cash in the bank, and have a fairly solid contract w/ NWA. The 900 flying will pick up with DL. THe only weak spot is the colgan US Airways flying that is losing cash. They knew it when they bought it, and it's coming to an ammedable period soon. THe Q is making loot for CAL. The saab can make money again if new contracts are made, both pilot groups will eventually merge, and 5 codeshares to choose from for one company. In this crappy economy, I'd almost call it safe, lol.

MEMPHIS, TN--(MARKET WIRE)--Jun 10, 2008 -- Pinnacle Airlines Corp. (NasdaqGS:PNCL - News) reported today that its Pinnacle Airlines, Inc. subsidiary has been notified by Delta Air Lines of Delta's intent to terminate Pinnacle's contract as a Delta Connection carrier, effective July 31. Pinnacle believes that this attempted termination is wrongful.
Delta contends that Pinnacle did not meet minimum arrival-time performance requirements for a period since flights began late last year.

Well, I work there, and I couldn't give 2 craps about on time performance or pizza parties for it. I think my on time hovers around 50%. I dont go out of my way to get on time, but Im not gonna deliberately delay. I know maybe 3 people here that take their good on time performance as a sense of pride, so there you go generalizing an entire airline again...

point of quoting me being? my on time or lack of it had nothing to do with Delta ops being crappy.....you do realize I might have never stepped foot in the ATL terminal?
