I couldn't agree more with this. I'll tell ya, I started in the EMB and did about 2 years in the right seat, moved to the right seat in the jet for a year and a half, and am now back in the left seat of the EMB120. A couple of my observations: an airplane is an airplane, period. They all have throttles, a yoke, windows, you get the idea. The jet is more just pushing buttons, while the EMB is more stick and rudder. The jet you spend hours up at 35,000 ft looking at sky, while the EMB you spend shorter times at 4,000ft over the bay between Crescent City and Arcata and watch for whales. And after spending a year dealing with thunderstorms in the midwest, delays in Chicago, security lines at major airports, time zone changes, etc, I wonder why everyone thinks the CRJ is so much cooler than the EMB. If it paid the same as larger equipment, I would spend the rest of my career enjoying the California valley and coastline, and overnighting in Santa Barbara and Monterey.

Perfectly said, I couldn’t agree more.

I love not having to go though security (unless you’re in LAX, SFO, GEG or commuting).

I just got the email a little bit ago that I've been hired!!! The email said that I would receive a package in the mail as soon as they determined which aircraft I would be in. I thought that was interesting so I immediately called. Turns out there is now a pool for both the CRJ AND the EMB. 44 people in the RJ pool, 23 in the EMB pool, 8 pending aircraft assignment including myself. She mentioned a full EMB class in July, but no mention of a August or September class. Thoughts?

take take take take the EMB...you will most likely be sitting waiting some time for a RJ class and then you will be sitting on the very bottom of the list for even longer...do yourself a favor and beg for the EMB

Ask if you you can be a "switch-hitter" for whichever pool has a date for you sooner. It will probably be the EMB anyway.

It was my understanding that they were hiring into classes for the EMB. That's what I was told at the interview. I'm a little disconcerted that they're now saying there is a pool for the EMB as well. I was also under the impression that there was an August EMB class with people in it. Is that not the case? Or are they just waiting for the date to come closer before they actually create a class?

From the sounds of it they might have pooled everyone that was in the August EMB class. It seems as though they were recently placing people into that class. Hopefully it's not too long for a class of some sort.

Is your August class still on?

I just got my welcome packet today (Interviewed Jun 11th). Doesn't have a class date but has all the boldface / CAP for the RJ's to study (called the CRJ pre-class study packet). Now have to decide what to do....
