3 baskets, actually. Midwest has about 21 of the -200's.
All 22 of the new jets that we have on order (since Nov 07) are -700's or -900's. We've got -200's coming up on the 40,000 hr. life limit (I think 405SW is at 38,000), which will likely be retired.
Of course, we could end up with dozens of 145's soon, so ya, we'll likely have "tons" of 50 seaters for some time.

They must know something we don't know. It looks like they are gearing up for more than what we currently project.

This was announced at the FLTops Pilot Career Conference in Las Vegas this month. Mesaba is continuing to hire and when I asked LCA if he is still checking people out he said the pace has not slowed down at all. Now this is in the CRJ9s. I think Saab classes may have slowed down a bit.

I think that is wishful thinking. I would love for them to hire another 350 pilots but I dont think its going to happen. They keep filling the classes internally and sending alot of the instructors to the line because there is no training to be done.

Who do you fly for? Don't make assumptions about Mesaba if you are not a Mesaba pilot. The hiring figure was announced at the Conference, definitely not a wishful thinking. It doesn't change the fact whether you believe it or not. Fact is Mesaba is continuing to hire whether you think it is wishful thinking or not.

Relax, Yes I'm a Mesaba pilot. I'm telling you my opinion dont get so defensive. I dont just see them hiring 350 pilots, if they were gearing up to hire so many why are they letting alot of the instructors go back to the line? I hope they do hire, we will have to wait and see.

The singular best thing that a "national" pilot union could provide.... not even on the table at ALPA. I see ALPA is now taxing member's 401k contributions, rather than tighten its own belt with the loss of US/HP. With the possible loss of UA, it'll be interesting to see where that goes.
Edit: oh, and they're sueing SkW. I think that'll only cost them money.
My prediction... more APA's, SWAPA's, IPA's, USAPA's, etc.
SKW is a good company, they are in a good position in this lean time. I only hope that they don't bite off too much and go under..... so diversifying into CAL and Airways when MESA eats it will help us to weather the looming United shut down. Hopefully there will not be too much loss of capacity in these next years and we can all remain employed. The next year or two will make or break a lot of our future careers in the cockpit.
We're in a good position for CO and US/HP flying, but the loss of UA would still decimate we pilots. Not sure how SKW, Inc will do, however. Pilots can be furloughed, but it might take BK to break all those now unneeded aircraft leases, and a flood on the market of CRJ's will make the ones we own worth less.
The loss of UA may be 60,000 employees at UA, and also perhaps 100,000 or more related jobs, like us.

Short of getting more than the already announced planes there is no way we are hiring another 300.... be lucky if we even fully drain the hiring pool that has formed. The short staffing on the 900's will be filled with the overstaffing (seatlock releases) on the Saabs. Remember this company has a history of prefering to cancel vacations and run short of people rather than carry a few extra "just in case"

I didn't ask why he is posting in this forum, I was pointing out that this information can be found by clicking on a link. Granted the airline profiles link is a little small, maybe it should be surrounded in big neon letters. My point being is that more and more, there are posts like "how do I check my PM's" or "is everybody still mad at gojets?" It is just either laziness not to search the forum yourself and use the google search tool, or just posts that has just gone past beating the dead horse to pulverizing it into a bloody unidentifiable mess.
To go even further, if the poster was asking about a specific airline info that he couldn't possibly find out for himself, then awesome. He is trying to make an educated decision on where he wants to start his airline career. But where I draw the line is asking something that can be easily found by spending a few minutes just looking around.

Yes, I do know where the airlines link is, and I use is for for general information. But, as each airline is not updated on a daily basis, I thought I would ask the folks who work FOR the companies for a bit of information. (Especially since in the current climate, company solvency changes day to day).
Ohhh, and I am happy that when you started the following thread:

I am going to put in an application into ASA soon, but before i do that I was wondering what the general consensus on the quality of life at that company. From the web site they look like a good company and a thorough interview. Also, what is the upgrade time for them? I live in STL and would it be easy to commute there and after the first year how much does the pay increase from the $19.00? Thanks for you inputs, I just want to do a good bit of research before I really commit to a company.
People answered your questions without getting snotty and pointing out
or you can try looking in the airline profile section and find the info yourself like any self sufficient pilot.

Some new folks who don't have your weeks of expereince, might get offened.
