Where are all these ORD openings coming from? Are they transfering out of ORD to another Domicile? or are they leaving AE.

My seniority number raised by 75 spots in 1-2 weeks. Anyone with thoughts?

The main reason people want to do the BOS before ORD is so they will be guaranteed the ERJ. ERJ in ORD compared to CRJ in ORD means more flexibility and scheduling choices. There is a ton of flying on the ERJ in ORD. ERJ Reserve should be short (3-5 months) CRJ might be longer (8-12 months). If you live so close to ORD then it shouldnt matter either way. It is up to you.

Dont forget we are losing a bunch of AA flowbacks each month so that accounts for some seniority number movement. We also lose a bunch of relatively junior FOs (less than 2-3 yr seniority). Im at 4yr seniority and my number changed by about 20 spots. So do the math and 55 guys left between me and you.

I know why people do it i'm just trying to find out if it makes managment mad or if they kinda don't care. I would like to do it because I live just far enough away to not be able to sit reserve at home and I'd like to know if it has backfired on anyone. When and if I get an interview do I just tell them what I plan to do or should I keep it on the down low. I am only 23 so i'm sure I would be junior in my class so I would prob. get stuck with the CRJ. and just as a general question does upgrade go by seniority by number on equipment or senority overall. I mean if i'm on the crj is my upgrade going to be shorter/longer than the erj or is it the same no mater what the equipment thanks for the help.

Oh management is just happy you decided to come to AE! They are so short staffed they need people everywhere, so dont worry about it. Transferring bases is a very common occurrence and happens every month. Upgrade is based on total seniority #, meaning you can go from CRJ FO to Saab CA, or any other CA position.

FB1206, is completely right. This is your decision. If you live in Chicago. Maybe you would like being at home waiting for a phone call. Some people like reserve because they get to be at home, do sports activities near the airport and simply dont care to fly. The bottom line is if you want the line choose BOS and transfer. If you want a a slightly larger, heavier aircraft (CRJ) and enjoy home time then choose ORD and hope for a CRJ opening. (But reserve time will be available on the ERJ as well)

I was also very VERY suspicious of the BOS -> ORD transfer. So suspicious that I changed it 3 times with HR before I started training! But after all that mess, I did start Day 1 of training with BOS and by the end of the 2nd week I got ORD. I am sure mgt is aware of this loophole. I spoke with an HR rep about it. And several people do it. Good luck.

I've noticed on aviationinterview.com that some people had King Air time issues. Does anybody know what that would be. My ME time breaks down as 24 hours seminole 24 hours apache 12 hours seneca V 12 Hours C421 all of this was part 91. I knew the owners and them letting me fly its all very legitimate-I hope- I just don't want anything to look fishy.

on another side note I have just been offered to fly with a local part 135 bank check pilot and log the part 91 repo legs. How do airlines and AE view this time since your the one flying but not the final authority I'm trying to decide if I want to go with him tonight I don't want anything fishy at all in my logbook.
