And as much crap as you'll hear people talk about FAT, don't pay attention to it. I've come to the conclusion that FAT-EMB is the best place to be based for new-hire pilots in the company unless you feel like sitting reserve in another domicile. It pays the same as the jet, you're going to be flying the LAX, SFO, and PDX systems (west coast flying is great), and they're one of the only bases that I've heard of that are actually adding flying (albeit not much). I'm glad I'm there.
Not to worry. I've met BHopper88 in person and we talk on a daily bases seeing he's in initial and I'm in upgrade. It's obvious to all the new hires that FAT is the place to be if you want fun and exciting flying. Mainly due to the fact that all 6 of us EMB upgraders are excited to not only be headed back to the Bro but also to be headed back to FAT which has the best and most diverse flying in the entire EMB system.

BHopper88’s a good guy and he possesses the right attitude. He’s a good match for SKW and he’ll be a fine FO and CA one day. I look forward to flying with him as well as the other New Hires I’ve met.

BTW, they have us going from day 1 to type in under 27 straight days. WOW, that’s fast! But I’m happy because we’ll complete training in time to bid for June which means I will continue my perfect stretch of never having to sit reserve, on a reserve line, for the company.

I have never heard one good thing about NWA, so I am surprised to hear that you enjoy them over SkyWest. Even reading "Flying the Line", the author makes note of NWA's hatred toward the pilot group. Then the mechanics struck and the company hired scabs. But if you say it's better, I'll take your word for it as I obviously have never been at a major.

Looks like I got by FTD, SIM, SIM Ride, A/C Ride and Type Ride instructors and I'm pretty happy.

FTD is B. Ger = OK, flew with his wife and I heard he's not as anal as she is but pretty close. No problem.

SIM is G. Bis = I need to prepare myself for his yelling but I'm OK with it seeing it's just for my training events and he's a sharp guy who will get us prepared.

SIM Ride & Oral is A. Eme = YES! Love this guy!

A/C Ride is T. Aln = YES! Another really cool EMB Check airmen!

Type Ride is B. Cru = YES! I couldn't get a better DE for my Type Ride!

I really lucked out when it came to my important rides and Oral. I can deal with BG and GB for my training events knowing that I have outstanding guys were it matters.

Thoughts?

Nice! Brad is very laid back and very cool. Had his wife for FTD and it went very well. Had Gary and he never yelled at my partner or myself. Was tough and I learned tons with him. Do what he tells you to do.....do your homework....answer his questions...and ask a few and your golden. You will be ready for your type ride when your done for sure. Good Luck and have fun!

Lucky! I've been with the company 7 months now and it looks like I'll be on reserve again for May!

yeah, what he said. GB was a great sim instructor. just study, chair fly etc... if you're unprepared then you're screwed. but that goes for any instructor. You FAT guys suck, took all our PDX flying. go away.

I'm glad somebody else agrees with me. Brad was a blast in FTD, had a great time and learned a lot from him. I flew with his wife on the line about three months later and I can say it's been the worst 2-day I've had with the company thus far.

Any word on the CRJ classes? I'm interviewing in 2 weeks and I'm trying to figure out if I should take the Bro or wait in the pool for the CRJ. I'm really trying to get the DEN(CRJ) base. Anything else would be a tough commute for me from DFW.
