Expect it to take 1 year plus. I've been waiting since Oct for Denver and don't expect to get it before September at the earliest. But other than that, Republic is a pretty good place to work. We have our issues but without anything to compare it to, I'd say we are a good outfit.

Also, anyone know what the chances of getting ORD Shuttle America out of training would be. I live there and am trying to plan how long it would take to get there and how long reserve duties are like.
I am trying to stay away from the commute and don't want to resort to Eagle just to based out of ORD. I wont have enough hours for SKW, and will not go to Mesa. Thanks in advance!

1. QOL is one of my biggest concerns. I'd like to avoid commuting because I do have a family that I'd like to spend as much time as I could with. ie Republic and Skywest have bases at ORD
2. Yes, I am just a CFI, who IS choosing to TEACH, build EXPERIENCE, and learn a few things along the way. I'm not applying with the 400TT and taking whatever I can get with that just to build time and do a LATERAL(stupid) move when I can simply instruct to get the time I need to go to where I want to go.
3. Being with a reputable company who cares and takes care of their pilot group is where I'd like to start. Im in know HURRY to get into whoever will take me first. Works out way better in the long run...wouldnt you say? Eagle=good company but 7yr FO; Mesa= Do I even have to explain?
So, I ask you, what's wrong with planning where one should go based upon their specific reasons? It's not always best to take what you can get and deal with it, and find out how much of a BAD decision you made by doing just that. Or eventually hating your flying job, and then losing interest in flying based upon your bad FIRST impression. The point of my first post was to see how JR the ORD base is for Republic? Of the two places that I am trying to get to, Republic would be my 1st choice. I think that these are VALID statements for CFI who is choosing to hold out from applying and just taking what I can get.

Well,
there is nothing wrong with asking for QOL but too much of a QOL can be a career killer. I am married and yet i will be commuting across the country for the job that i will be starting soon. All I am saying , people are getting more and more qualified for regional jobs these days. The upgrade times of last year will not come back.. There are going to be some pilots with 10 times of more experience than you in the market pretty soon..
Just my $0.02
