Good. Now the captains can stop complaining about the 500 hour new hires they had to fly with when their 3000 hour FO's call in sick.

Same old argument again.. I should have thought about that before I posted this.

Im not saying that I dont agree.. Its just that every time someone lowers mins the same comments come up.

I'll tell ya, this is such a wonderful day. It just tells me that this minimums non-sense is 100% A COMPLETE JOKE! Last June I was on my knees begging with 519/103 and they wanted 800/100. Today, I'm friggin' over qualified. LOL! Man, what a joke...I'm rolling on the floor laughing my frackin' a$$ off here. I'm no better a pilot today than back in June last year. Man, someone slap me. I can't stop laughing here.

First off, they lowered the minimum they are accepting the application, not the hiring mins. The hiring mins are the same, they are just having so much success with the RJO course they are sending lower time guys there first. Secondly, just because you lower mins does not mean you are lowering safety. Eagle has lowered their mins drastically in the past years just like everybody else, but they haven't lowered any standards in training. If a 250 hour pilot can get a type rating and be safe, why not let him. He will still be flying with a 7+ year eagle pilot. Finally, I love how people can complain about a company they don't work for. I can't say I didn't expect the worst out of the bystanders. If "IQuitEagle" wants to comment, I will whole heartedly take thier opinion. Better to be working someplace for 7 years before an upgrade than to just be hired at other regionals and already be getting furloughed. Now that makes me laugh Ninja. Just having time doesn't mean you are qualified.

AmericanEagleFO: Whatever. I more than meet their requirements now. That means I'm qualified. Whether they hire me is another story. But it still makes me laugh. Man, I haven't laughed this hard since I realized I spent over $101K to do CAPT and go no where. I'm still laughing my a$$ off here about the new Eagle minimums. Could take me the next year for me to come down from this comedy. Let me enjoy this. It's the funniest thing in my aviation experience yet!

I wish I only had 3,000 hours as an FO.

So in 8 extra months of flying you've learned nothing? Make sure you point that out...I'm sure you'll be a shoe in this time around....

I think his point is he's done no flying. When they wanted 800 and he wanted the job, he wasn't qualified. Now, they are hiring with less than he had before, and somehow he finds it funny that he wasn't qualifed then, but is now, though he hasn't flown at all.

I don't really keep track, but I'm not sure I have 1000 PIC turbine at this time. Somehow, I've been a Capt at UPS for two years but am not even qualified to work there by the latest accepted mins.

Mins change, times change. I don't find it nearly as humorous as Ninja, though maybe I if I was a CAPT guy 100K in debt without a job, I would. I'm not sure.

Just trying to keep the thread real.....

It's not always about the time.
