you clowns think you just know everything. i wasn't told a 1.5 yr upgrade and wouldn't choose a company based on the upgrade, just like i wouldn't work for free, nor do i care if it's a shiny new jet or an atr or anything. i made the decision to work here based on my needs in my life just as i'm sure all of you did in choosing the company you work for. too many people on here assume. so yes, it was a very educated decision. its not the problem of a free market that brings this industry down, its the problem of ALL pilots not being unified against management. its funny, i read the following in an email from our MEC:

MEC members attended a joint fee for departure meeting in St. Louis, Missouri. Elected leaders from 12 ALPA regional carriers to include: Air Canada Jazz, American Eagle, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Champion, Comair, Express Jet, Mesa Air Group, Mesaba, Piedmont, Pinnacle, PSA, and Trans States Airlines met to discuss strategies for protecting jobs and building careers at regional airlines.
One of the major issues facing all regional pilots is management's game of musical airplanes. Their game of moving aircraft from one carrier to another at the expense of pilots' lifestyles and careers must be challenged. Solutions must be found that
will address these and other job security issues facing regional pilots.

Imagine that, we are working with your airlines. This is what is bringing down the industry. Managements ability to do what they want. And as long as all pilots are not unified as one collective union, they will continue to do so. Believe me, I feel I should be getting paid more than this, and I'm fighting for that. You guys need to stop attacking your fellow pilots. You speak of us as if we are GoJet. You guys make me sick.

Because the VAST majority of this group will REFUSE to settle just to get a current contract. In no way will this group work for free just to get more planes. Have we forgotten why trans states isn't flying 700's?

Just a little clarification. Our contracts original effective period was August 1, 2000 to July 31, 2004. The reason we still have it is because our previous MEC signed a two year extension (caved in). 26 months of negotiations thus far have netted us 50% of our sections TA-ed. Hopefully, the next vars message is good news.

50% if you count each section as equal. But some of the biggest sections aren't close, like scheduling and compensation. You're right though, heres to the next vars message being good news. And the next, and the next, and.....

Honest question for ya... I probably have my info mixed up.

I was under the impression that TSA was never even offered the 700's due to some sort of scope clause so HK created GoJet (please don't let this de-rail into a GoJet thread!) to get around the scope.

The TSA pilot group was offered the flying. It would have been a similar arrangement to the Republic group. TSA pilots voted the offer down, for a number of reasons.

Default unification... low end or high end?

Sorry you're not feeling well

I agree that being unified as pilots across company lines is a very positive thing...

So should we be unified at the level of your contract or ours? Remember our contract is better because we as a pilot group (not talking about the present but pilots groups of the past... you and i are not included in this point) remained unified. From this side it seems unification would be hard since I am constantly worried about the longevity of my job because I make too much money for my company to win an RFP. How is unification possible when I fear the only way to have any security is undercutting the next guy? I completely support any pilot group in their quest against management, but I also strongly believe in keeping people from going somewhere that they will be abused and help the continuation of this rat race to the bottom.

If this is the case... great job TSA pilots and thank you. That was definitely a classy move.

groovin, if you didn't know the previous statement by Grossole before you made the comments that you did, then i'd recommend doing your homework before making accusations in which you belittle a group of individuals that you should consider your peers and comrades.

I agree completely. People are taking cheap shots at TSA PILOTS and don't even know the history behind GoJet or how our current contract came to be.
