Hiring Boom @ ASA is over...

LOL- I had a guy interview in my group that had 360TT, how he even got invited to interview, boggled my mind. With people like this being interviewed no wonder why they are having trouble filling classes. He pased the writtens N Oral, but seems like the ride in the 700 sim sent him packing. I'm hoping that they will at least raise the mins to 1000TT/200+ME. I was lucky enough to have a sim partner who had previous jet/crew exp. as I did. I'm glad to see that ASA uses the 700 sim to do their flight evaluation, this seems to weed out the weak links before we have to have guys like this in our classes.
That being said, there is no one left at the flight schools anymore. All of the instructors we have fall into 2 catagories. 1. Retired/part-time guys with other jobs. 2. Guys with 0 multi time.
The student pool consists of three types:
1. About 100-120 foreign students.
2. 40 or so people just wanting private.
3. About 5 people wanting to go the professional route.
There simply isn't anyone left.

Any DCI carrier is going to be a toss these days, but I'm sure anyone would agree that ASA is the lesser of the two evils

Finished up my interview last week and passed. After fingerprinting, and the drug test, I was told that I would probably be placed in a pool. His explanation was that fuel prices may have influenced management's decision to stop issuing start dates. This was very disappointing because it would have worked perfectly for me - no commute.

Starflyer, I am right there with you... I finished up on Thursday and got the whole "welcome to the team, but you are on the bench for a while" speech... Frustrating isnt it? Oh well I guess we are supposed to be "having fun" in the meantime... HA... my current instructing job wears me out more than the military did in the middle east!! hah cant wait to be done
