Foreign CRJ crash
#11
I'm not flying the CRJ anymore, but don't think the wing has been modified. What HAS been modified, is the removal of the pre-takeoff contamination check option after hold-over time has expired... it's NOT an option anymore. If hold-over time has expired, there is no alternative... you go back for a another de-ice/anti-ice application. That's my understanding.

I believe it had something to do with the mounting bracket for the hand mic-the back side was hanging up on something not allowing the pilot to rotate this was not realized obviously by the pilots until VR. At the airports where the crashes took place, they did not have sufficent runway length in order to make a high speed(after V1) abort, wich resulted in them crashing off of the end of the runway. Ice was to blame for these accidents until a crew actually was able to have the problem and luckily have enough pavement to get it stopped safely. I believe the hand mic was relocated from the control column and they have not had a proble since.
A very good friend of mine flys a 604 and when I talk to him next will get him to make a post, may take a week or so as the lucky bastard is in MROC (costa rica) with the 604.
