Obviously you aren't actually flying, since you are still on the ground. The point is the aircraft has the energy to go flying and unless you are in doubt about the integrity of the aircraft, you should continue.

V1 is the decision point, if you haven't started the reject by V1 you go flying.

I understand fully that V1 is the decision speed, and it needs to be made before the takeoff roll ever starts, not halfway down the runway when the shat hits the fan.
