Default Colgan to be welcomed to Newark by ALPA/Pinnacle Picketing

from ALPA email:
Pinnacle Pilots Picket in EWR

Colgan Airlines is scheduled to begin Q400 service for Continental Airlines out of EWR on Feb. 4. Pinnacle pilots will conduct informational picketing at the EWR passenger terminal “C”. We encourage all ExpressJet pilots to make an effort to participate in this picketing effort. Get out and support our fellow pilots!

Pinnacle pilots have been in negotiations for more than three years with an intransigent management that refuses to negotiate, pleads poverty, and at the same time pours money into the fleet expansion of another airline.

Monday Feb. 4th starting at 12:30pm

Welcome guys, I hope you enjoy your first day of flying the bigger aircraft for less with a nice big warm welcome from the union pilots who bought you those airplanes (Pinnacle) and from CAL/XJT pilots who are disgusted with your payrates and lack of workrules.

ALPA will protest Colgan pilots and then wonder why those pilots wont vote for ALPA in the next vote. Then you have the Axis of Evil (SAAB, N2, NewarkBlows) say how much we suck not voting for ALPA.

Ok, now I await to hear how much I suck and how I am a no-good bottom feeder. Same old, same old crap.

They are not protesting Colgan pilots, they are protesting the Q and the pay scales being paid to those pilots. If anything they are helping us.

As a 9L pilot I applaud ALPA's picketing. It's too bad the 9L guys can't be out there with them (and keep their job).

If it is truly picketing the Q and the pay that is one thing. However when you read the continued and undeserved "disgust" expressed by some at the pilots of 9L, I question it.

It is sad that many of us who are pro-union for Colgan can not speak up, it is like living in a communist world, and it is wrong wrong wrong. The problem is the number of morons on here who cast hate on all Colgan pilots, even the pro union guys, as being bottom feeding scabs. The union campaign will pass this year and when it does we will go from there in fixing what has been wrong for so long.

Do you expect him (or her) to single handedly turn Colgan into a top tier, unionized carrier. Attacking every single Colgan pilot is unfair and should not continue. Many DO want a union and DID vote in favor of ALPA. For once in your life, think before you act and realize that all Colgan pilots are not anti-union, scab loving pilots. Their last ALPA vote failed by a single digit margin.

The pilots had no say what so ever regarding the Q pay rates. I was there when they came out and I didn't hear a single pilot go, "wow those rates are pretty good." Most were downright insulted by the rates, but without a union or other bargaining medium there was nothing they could do about it. Furthermore, all new-hires during the first ALPA drive were told not to vote in favor of a union. The company brainwashed them from the get-go.. I doubt all those pilots still look upon the company so fondly.
