Skywest Questions

Hey Folks:

I have some questions regarding Skywest Airlines. It doesn't look like they're hiring, does anyone no if i'm mistaken, or if not, when they will be hiring again? Also, which Embraer base is most junior, and which CRJ base is most junior? If anyone could help with these questions, or if you have any tid-bits of info at all that are pertinent to this airline, it would sure help. Sometimes we just need a little help working our way through this maze of regionals.

Gratefully Anticipating Excellent Responses,

Hello

In response to you question. It appears that SkyWest has paused their hiring for a short time. From all accounts they currently have around 70 pilots in the pool and will not start training them until the second quarter of 2006. This delay in hiring and training is reported to be a cause of Deltas resent slip into chapter 11. Myself, I am currently awaiting a class date on the CRJ and am hopeful that it will come soon, but there have been no firm dates set.

For bases, I have been told that Chicago and Denver are the two most junior for the CRJ. As for Embraer I cannot comment.

Good luck in your hunt and I believe that SkyWest is an excellent place to pursue a career, if you’re willing to be patient…

Skywest isn't hiring right now, but just had a couple upgrade classes awarded for jan, feb and march. as far as the emb junior domicile, you can pretty much expect anywhere in california......fresno seems to be the most popular place followed by san luis obispo, LAX, palm springs and monterey. Getting based in SBA, SAN, SMF will take an act of god and a long time. People are getting transfers to SLC and DEN within about 6 months....

What kinduv chance does an older guy have (upon hire) of being able to choose CRJ over Emb. ???

well I can't say that I'm an expert on the matter
but I would think that an older guy should have just as good a chance as a younger person. As for choosing one aircraft over the other, I belive it just comes down to luck of the draw... That being said, with each aircraft you have a one year seat lock and after that year, you are able to bid on CRJ spots...

Good Luck and I hope to see you on line

I didn't realize SkyWest flew, or was going to be flying the ERJ. Is this old news? Also, will there be a pay difference between the ERJ and CRJ?

I just realized you all were referring to the EMB. 120, so please ignore the above. LOL!!!
