You remind me of Rush Limbaugh. You'll trash the union until you're in trouble and then you won't be able to call and get their assistance fast enough. Rush hates the far left, but when he found himself being addicted to pills (or a drug addict as we call them), he couldn't find a far left attorney to represent his sorry ass fast enough. Maybe one day you'll be lucky enough to not have a union to belong to.......then you'll be begging for that expensive magazine subscription. Wanna bet? OH, BTW, don't try to come fly at a major since we all have the "garbage magazine producers" to belong to. I'd hate to see you waste your hard earned money on job protection or something silly like that.

It looks as if the 1.95% goes a long way towards paying very nice salaries for those lucky enough to become employed at ALPA. There were many more people on the list that was posted, but I didn't want to spend any more time copying numbers into Excel and such (if someone know where that thread is please post the link. I couldn't find it).

One observation I have as an outsider...it says that ALPA gets $105 million dollars in revenue each year. $22 million goes to "flight loss" pay, at least $14 million goes towards salaries. That's $36 million out of $105 million. Let's say there is another $14 million in salaries that I didn't take the time to add. That brings the total to $50 million of expenses out of $105 million in revenue. If I was a member of ALPA, I would be questioning where the other $55 million in revenue is going. That is a lot of money, and after reading the above posts, I cannot see anyway that they could spend $55 million on the remaining items mentioned. Personally, I think they should be making some EXCEPTIONAL progress with regard to the numerous issues that face airline pilots today with $55(+/-) million in the bank. That's just an outsider's opinion.
You know how much I make as a ALPA Rep?????????????, (EWR F/O Rep) Not a DOLLAR, and thats on top of my 30k a year F/O position. Your ignorance is amazing............ I am in meetings with the CPO, as well as answering Phone calls at all hours for F/O's that need help. I can't stand it, someone like you that has no 121 time and you know more about the union then people that live with it everyday.

I realize that you don't make a dollar as an ALPA rep, and it's a very honorable that you take the time to do that job on top of your regular flying. As I said, I am an outsider, and I don't pretend to know all the workings of the ALPA. I was simply looking at the numbers. There were dollar figures supplied in the original posting, and I combined those numbers with other numbers that I crunched. The fact is that there is $55 million (a conservative estimate...probable more) that they do not account for in that "release." My point was that if I was an ALPA member, I would like to know where that $55 million (+/-) goes every year. My other point just has to deal with what I read on here. There are no doubt many, many issues facing professional pilots today. If the ALPA has $55 million to play around with, or even a fraction of that, I would think that there would be more progress towards these issues than I have observed as an outsider. Maybe I would see things differently if I was actually flying the line. No need to get your panties in a wad.

And I explained to you where the rest of the money is/goes - the MCF. The MCF has $85 million in it. Also, ALPA, like every other union, is required to file reports with the DoL. You can look all this up for yourself.

Things would have been a lot worse if it were not for pilot unions. Can things be better? Sure, that is why some of us volunteer our time and effort rather than just complaining why things are not better.
