Mostly, that's to take guys from Mesa. By the way, it's EXTREMELY effective... almost 1/4 of my new hire class was Mesa guys.
Well, SkyWest must love Mea guys! One word of advice: If you are coming from another airline trying to work for SkyWest, be prepared to answer some though questions about why you want to leave, etc. I had a bad interview experience with SkyWest. Now I am actually gald I didn't get the job.

If you're coming from mesa they probably won't ask...they already know the real answer.

You have no idea what these guys have gone through. Think regional treatment at a major, loss of retirement, twice screwed over in mergers, furloughs ect.

Imagine where they are and respect that, because in this industry we could all be there in no time. You work at PSA, WTH is wrong with you?
It is what it is. They voluntarily chose to go to arbitration. They voluntarily chose to accept whatever the arbitrator said. When they didn't get what they wanted, they started crying and wouldn't accept the decision.

I understand there's a sense of urgency to "get in while the gettin's good." But I'd strong advise against blowing $10K on multi time to save a month or two.
If you can get an MEI job, then by all means do it. I got one only after I had acquired 100 hours ME time. Not everyone is unattached and can juts pack up and head to florida to work at a puppy mill.

I'm a little out of touch with the big flights schools...can a 20-hour MEI walk up and get an MEI job right off the bat? Or would you have to work your way up through the ASEL ranks first? I would advise any new CFI's to try to get a job which can progress to MEI work...if your school has no twins, that's going to be an issue for you.

I AM familiar with the insurance issues plaguing GA right now...no way can a low-time MEI can teach at a club or small school. My club is ALWAYS bugging me to hang out my shingle again, but I'm done with professional CFI work...friends and family only.

If you need mult time i know a place in phoenix where you can get it for 150 an hr. total. Split it with someone and thats 75hr. not bad.

yeah, they just raised asa's pay after long negotiations. improved work rules, etc. then they came to us and offered us a pay raise (we didn't go begging for one, they came to us). so pay and work rules getting better at both carriers. that's funny. i would have thought "whipsaw" meant things getting worse.

I am trying to get on with Skywest. I have 600 TT, 400 ME turbine (Military, mostly C-130). They won't accept the lower 850 TT for me either, I need to get 400 additional hours.

Some gouge I have read indicated that Skywest isn't really military friendly. Apparently some guy in hiring scoffs at the military types.

I've seen a lot of higher time (1500, 2000 TT 600 ME, if you consider that higher time) pilots applying at mesa. I'm not quite sure what the logic is behind this. I'll think about it

And don't they have a $12000 pro rated training contract that they can screw me over with if I leave?

Chris
I highly recommend getting your CFI...and CFII and MEI if you can. Yeah it will cost you alot of extra bucks....but at least you can fly, get experience, and get paid doing it while you are applying to airlines and playing the waiting game. Especially since the whole industry has slowed down hiring.
