Yep. I've heard of several guys who have taken that route. I don't think I could do it. I mean, I already work with the neanderthal barbarian rogues out on the ramp at CAL and going to mesa would probably be a significant downgrade from that, but who knows. It's tempting though and a prime opportunity to screw over mesa for the training and time.

Thanks for the idea!

I don't believe Mesa even has minimums. Just Comm/Multi/Inst.

So, how many hours do you have? If 300 or 400, you'd have to survive 2 months of class / sim, then say 80 to 90 hours / month... 5 or 6 more months, and you're out of there. YOU CAN DO IT !!!

I'd throw the SKW application in about a month before you're going to hit 800 TT, and attend the very next job fair. Go here to find one:

www.skywest.com

Under "careers", click on "recruitment events", then click on "pilots".

Something like this will pop up:

Los Angeles, CA Thu. March 6th - 10:00 AM, Crown PLaza Los Angeles Airport, 3685 W. Century Blvd. Los Angeles, CA(COURTESY SHUTTLE PROVIDED)

Wow. I'm working on my commercial and am just building up time at this point (part 61). No multi rating yet. I'm flying my ass off lately though and was considering getting my CFI ticket and wait or just go ahead and apply somewhere, or both.

I've seen a lot of higher time (1500, 2000 TT 600 ME, if you consider that higher time) pilots applying at mesa. I'm not quite sure what the logic is behind this. I'll think about it

And don't they have a $12000 pro rated training contract that they can screw me over with if I leave?

I can think of much worse places to be stuck at.......i cant wait to move back down there...im soooo sick of Long Island

Come on dude, don't tell people to do mesa...I assume you never did it yourself?

- It helps JO to linger on.

- If there's a downturn, they'll be stuck there...I wouldn't wish that on osama bin laden.

All SKW mins are enforced, although if you fly an RJ at another airline you can get on with 850 TT. There have been rumors of less than 850 for CRJ drivers, but nobody I know in training or interviewing has confirmed it.

If you're having trouble getting the twin time, just buy it. Load up the credit card if needed. I MEI'ed for 350 hours, and learned a lot doing it, but times have changed. I hate to see otherwsie qualified CFI's languishing at that level because of lack of twin time. I ran into one of my old students at the home field. He's a freelance CFI with 3000+ hours, so I kind of danced the around the subject of why was he still there...turns out he only has 15 hours ME

Most opportunities to get paid to fly a twin require 100 ME hours for insurance anyway.

Yeah, I second that. I know Mesa is the SKW Scholarship program, but you aren't helping the industry any by recommending people go there.
