I went to a large conference room with an HR representative and the Chief Pilot. For the most part I have read that line pilots do the interviews at other companies. I think there is a commitment shown to the applicant with the Chief Pilot participating.

The technical questions are the sort of things you should be able to answer in a good ICC / BFR / Line Check. Things a Commercial Pilot / ATP should know getting into an airplane. Lynx asks that you bring a POH, AFM or company manual of your choice to the interview which will be the basis for limitations, procedures & systems questions. No tricks at all and you have time to think and give a correct answer.

I don’t know what the criteria or scoring system is but it worked out well for me. I am very pleased to enter class later this month.

Any updates? I know they have another class coming up. Did they get CASS set up yet? Any news on new service with RAH leaving?

Lynx is in CASS and they are picking up a few new cities (FAR, BOI) and are increasing aircraft utilization to pick up the slack from the departure of RAH, thus the two classes this month.

Default Lynx Contd ...

I didn't end up at Lynx. After the job was offered to me and I accepted a training contract was thrown in and made all parties back away. All things happen for a reason and I ended up staying in So. Cal at a great 135 operator and the Lynx / Frontier folks ended up in bankruptcy. The Q400 is a great plane. There is a Lynx pilot forum at www.lynxpilots.com. As this all unfolded I found the pilots to be a great and supportive group. I also know the mins. have dropped way down.

I have an interview setup at Lynx for next week, and I've been pondering the thought of not going. I am already at an airline, and it's hard a decision to make if I want to switch jobs to get closer to the west coast (home) with a company that is in bankruptcy, and that I could find myself out on the street in a few months from a bad decision.

Flyduke what did you think of the overal company? Do you think they will survive? Do they have anything setup in place if something goes wrong for frontier to try to survive or will they go down with them? I've heard from a couple southwest pilots that they are really ramping up service in Denver to hurt Frontier so they can steal their gates after they go out of business, and that concerns the hell out of me!

From the looks of it, if Frontier goes away, Lynx could sink right along with it. If they get their financials in order, the whole operation will survive, but with oil continuing to go up for no apparent reason, its going to be tough.

There is the possibility that someone may step in and buy the whole operation outright, kind of like what happened with Aloha Cargo, simply because the planes and the certificate are so valuable these days.

It's a crapshoot like any other airline these days, this one just is in BK right now. Look at almost any other regional and they are all struggling or are in some kind of risk of loosing flying due to a merger. The exceptionally low pay doesn't help either....

So, who knows? If I did, I'd be a VERY rich man.

My two cents:

If anything, oil is hurting Frontier, Southwest is hurting United. United is the one that is losing passengers and giving up market share in DEN right now. Of course, having Southwest around is keeping prices low and they will benefit if Frontier goes away, its not having a major direct effect on Frontier like the price of oil is.

Funny how Southwest has become the big bad major of the decade, ala AA, et al from the 90's (killing Legacy in DAL, etc.).

I would pass.... Management is not open and given the financial reality of operating under Chapter 11 I believe they will (and may have) be looking for salary reductions. They have many of their best people out looking for other jobs. My situation has to do with their hiding the training contract.

They're a subsidiary of Frontier Holdings. They're not going to survive without the Mother Ship.
