The 4th airline rumor for now is over. Yes it was Southwest, however, for a few reasons it wont happien. Also, there is no other flying that SKW is in the works for. We will take another 8 200's for midwest. SKW is waiting for a new VP to be named untill the word goes out. Do to the fact the Southwest thing wont happien as soon as thought( or happien at all) SKW will run a new hire class of 20 every 3 weeks. Upgrades to the RJ will slow as well. Look for upgrades to be around the 2.5 year range. SKW wanted 600 new hires for 08, now there talking 350ish. As for a MCI base not yet, however, it's not been ruled out.

Big news doesn't always equal good news. Maybe they will park some 50 seaters

Upgrade time at SKYW is now at least 10 yrs. Last company memo indicated 70 upgrades between now and June. We have 2,811 pilots. Thats 1,400 FOs. 1,400 divided by 10 per month= 140 months to upgrade. And this BEFORE age 65. All the rumors about other airlines is just wishful thinking to avoid this REALITY.

OK, seriously I getting sick of these threads which continue to show just how much Kool-Aid we're all drinking. Let’s cool our jets (no pun intended) and stick to more solid information.

I love it. I truly believe SkyWest is an excellent company, but it sure is nice to see some rationality around here...props. FWIW though, you can't predict upgrade time...anywhere. 10 years would be a super-long time, and I don't think it will be that long at all, considering attrition, career FO's, and the like...

Hate to break it to you my friend but YOU ARE DEAD WRONG! That "memo" you're talking about calls for 210 upgrades by the end of June. 130 RJ CA's, 80 EMB CA's, 90 Transitions (EMB FO - CRJ FO) and 310 new hires (180 RJ & 130 EMB).

That's 3 times that amount you've listed above. These numbers are only taking into account our attrition rates and the positions we currently have open, no growth other than what's already on the books. (To date we're still understaffed)

Yes...and that is why we should all be curious about CAL. Any CHQ guys have news about renewing the contract?? The 2-yr deal is also why SKW (who originally won the bid) turned it down. No sense in ramping up hiring and purchasing a/c for such a short contract - and worst case end up furloughing those same pilots in short-order. Our Midwest flying was signed on a 5 year contract - that's the lowest (as it should be) JA and company will take a risk for.

No, CAL is actually sueing CHQ for breach of contract, due to the poor start up of the operation as well as the poor performance during the first few months. That is NOT a knock on CHQ pilots. I am not blaming it on CHQ pilots! Its not their fault that B.B. had a **** poor Plan B when XJET told CAL they were keeping the airplanes. So please don't say I shouldn't blame it on the pilots, because I am not. So if SkyWest were to try to bid on flying, where would they get the airplanes. I really don't know of any regional that just has 50 seaters laying around. Not trying for an argument, just really curious as to how SkyWest would staff the flying. I guess maybe they would have more time to pull planes out of the sand it they needed to?
