Yep you're right. But for any Pilot group to get a contract like those mentioned above without the very real threat of a strike, I think it is safe to say that Mgmt, rather than any Union, is to thank. That's not to say, of course, that those unions aren't particularly strong...but the key here is the managment-pilot relationship.

remember too that the people heading your company now wont be around forever, and history has proven that the next people in power wont always be of the caliber youre leaders are now.

CAL wasnt always led by Lorenzo, United didnt always have the mgmt team they have now, etc.

Lord Almighty....have you put your application in for UPS management? They'd probably hire you just reading this post.

well in that case the pilots should sit on their hands and not ask for anymore money while their executives continue to fill their pockets. better yet the pilots should ask for a paycut to be more in line with other regionals...

youre missing the point my friend, and it goes far beyond pay

Texas,

Yes, we are one the better paying regionals on some levels. Our first year pay is disgraceful. Our CA/FO turboprop rates are among the highest for 30 seats, and our RJ CA rates are slightly above average. Our RJ FO pay is good, but could be a little better. 700/900 are on par with others. But we are keeping the industry down. Sorry guys.

Not to rain on you parade, but I had a great day, and I’m happy. I feel very fortunate to have a job with skywest. Just learned of a couple more of my neighbors who are losing their houses due to the subprime mess. Oh well, work hard, be positive, be professional, educate yourself, and push for cola.......

Horizon has a good contract because the pilots were ready to burn the place down if they didn't get one. Also, it was ratified right before 9/11 (something like one or two days before) when other regionals were getting big contracts as well, so pattern bargaining played a large role. It had very little to do with a good relationship with management. Former QX management once called Horizon pilots "juvenile delinquents in uniform."

As for the GoJet thing, I think IBT organizing them was a total disgrace. At least they aren't in the same local as QX, RAH, and all the non-sked airlines.
