FL 410 seems to be the breaking point to get above weather "most" of the time it was my goto altitude in the Lear 20 and 30 series not for macho reasons but because the Lear liked and performed well there. It could still accelerate past Vmo so watching the speed was necessary.
Fuel flows in the 20 series are eyepoping at lower altitudes and if you wanted max range a quick climb to FL 410 was crucial. In the early days the Lears were among the few private jets up there it was heady to always be looking down on commercial traffic especially if they were complaining about the ride and getting direct where ever you wanted was always easy.
