Default Go For It Wannabe

I'm 37 and a career changer. 15 years ago, getting a job with an airline required F-16 experience, internship at NASA while earning your PhD in astrophysics, 25 lunar orbits and a spacewalk in addition to 10,000 hours turbine PIC.

Seriously though, the time just wasn't right for me until now. I thought I would be the oldest in my class, but was beat by 5 years. There are 3 others in their mid 30's.

It's never too late and I admire you for having the balls to do it. Your age and life experience will be an asset in the cockpit.

I went to a local single company job fair and was the second group of three. I am 39 and expected to be the oldest by far. The other two were around 45 and 50 something. I got a call after a few days and am looking forward to interviewing.

Just kidding???

I turned 47 today, am thinking of applying as well. Had a career in banking, retired at 40. Have been bored out the wazoo. Can only play so much golf, online poker, and online investing. Have tried to get into the corporate aviation world, but have been told I need 200 multi to get in the right seat of king air. (Insurance requirement).I own a bonanza A36, love it as far as payload, speed, and operating cost. Don't really want to sell it to pay 3 times the operating cost to go 20 knots faster in a baron in order to build multi time. I figure a few years at a regional would give me all the experience I would need. The wife is Okay with it, think she wants me out of the house. I love flying, and have always had a lot of respect for the 121 guys. I may give it a try. Just wondering if the fact that I have not been gainfully employed for 7 years will hurt my chances?
