My 1st Emergency

I never did it but i may or may not know someone who did or did not do it. but in the world of electric jets, you should learn to get real familiar with that circuit breaker panel behind you, resetting circuit breakers is not a good practice if you dont know what youre doing. however it will save you from a lot of emergencies if you do know what youre doing.
besides, i guarantee you the first thing maintenance did when they got to saabs broken ERJ was pull and reset the associated circuit breaker(s)

I was working on a Challenger (small cousin to the CRJ as you prob already know) as a corporate F/A for a few months that had recurring flap issues. On several landings with the flap prob, the F/O and I pulled the breakers out, and then, on the count of 1-2-3... we pushed them back in, and it solved the problem EVERY time.
Not great regular operating practice, but you do what you gotta do. That plane had issues anyway... got hit by lightening and had its brains scrambled... never was quite right after that.

dominatrix you bring up another very good point. sometimes certain airplanes in the fleet stand out for having certain issues that seem to never be fixed no matter how hard mx tries.
i fly one of the most notoriously awful electric jets ever built (c-17). i have callouses on my fingers from pulling so many circuit breakers haha

I'm sorry Saab...but md11's take on your emergency was just too funny - I haven't laughed or enjoyed such a post in forever. I'm reprinting so folks can read it in real time.
Fly safe!
My 1st Emergency
Well, not too big of a deal but as we turn final to land in EWR and I go to put "Flaps 9" in, you guessed it, Flap fail, after 20 mins of circling and talking to company and running a few checklists my CA does a really amazing job of putting the airplane down right on the markers (I think she just came off of like 3 weeks vacation)and right on ref (163 kts). Wasn't a big deal in retrospect, but the pucker facto was there, the Flaps Zero approach felt kinda awkward, I couldn't help but notice the what seemed like a dozen or Firetrucks waiting for us down the end of the RWY The whole approach seemed low, flat and fast, but all in all pretty good experience, anybody remember their first emergency?
I showed up in ANC yesterday and forgot to order food so, you guessed it, I got stuck with the Beef Fillet. After 20 mins of *****ing about how I can't possibly fly without my Halibut meal, my CA does a really amazing job of calling ops and getting them to bring out a Seafood Sampler. The catering guy put it right in the cooler (even though he was just off break) and right before push (2350 z). Wasn't a big deal in retrospect, but the pucker factor was there, the crab meat tasted kinda awkward, I couldn't help but notice what seemed like a dozen or so shrimp in there waiting for me. The whole meal seemed low-fat and fast, but all in all a pretty good experience, anybody remember their first emergency?

We told what was going on, we assured them it wasnt a big deal we would just be coming in faster than normal and that they might see some emerg. trucks, the F/A said they were nervous, but it was nice when the clapped once we got to the gate

Oh My God,
Saab, You must be so GREEN you don't need to dress up on St Pat's. I haven't read the full thread, (I was in Europe), but I hope this is a joke. Please tell me it is a spoof. If a less than full flap landing made you start this thread , well, I hope I never fly on one of your planes.
I won't get into my war stories, but I will say that I have my own NTSB report on file, and I never even considered it to be a big deal. Oh, and the last engine failure I had, the controller insisted, and did declare an emergency for "us". I even let the FO land it because it was his first.. True..
