I would never wish on any pilot to lose their job. Where do you see that on my post? You must be smoking something!

From Epic:

Base Structure
Currently, we have approximately 920 flight attendants at Comair — 700 in CVG and 220 in JFK. In February 2009, we project to have approximately 630 flight attendants in CVG and 130 flight attendants in JFK. In terms of total block hours, there is a projected decrease of 3,400 hours from August 2008 to February 2009. This represents a 19.5% reduction.

That was before their union ACTUALLY negotiated mitigation

For the first time in a long time we are properly staffed. That is showing in our performance data.

It'd be genius for UA to breach the contract with one of their cheapest regionals, thus incurring more $ when they've already peed away almost 800 million this quarter alone.
I am currently in the hiring pool for Comair and American Eagle. I am flight instructing and have been for some time. Even if Mesa was hiring I would not send my app in. I could have sent it in 1.5 years ago when I qualified but I would not go to that level. We had guys that werent good enough pilots to flight instruct and did not get hired at my flight school that went directly to the right seat at Mesa/Freedom. In my opinion, Mesa brings down the industry and I hope the go out of business. Pilots have seen their paychecks get sliced and sliced due to some internal but mostly external forces but to have pilots undercutting pilots is simply terrible and unforgiveable. Now, I know people will say that it is the contract that Mesa signed and its not the pilots fault. Hey, you went to work for that company.

I would rather flight instruct for the next 5 years than work for Mesa.

hear hear! i'm in the comair pool with ya and i'll sit tight flying the C-310 till the economy comes out of the crapper. or until either comair starts hiring again or when i have 135 mins and more doors open up. i applied at just about all the regionals and some other places, but not mesa. i have too much respect for myself and those who have come before me in this industry. my grandfather was a pilot back in the day, my dad and brother are pilots as well, and I feel like I would be letting them down if I were to go somewhere like mesa. Let's just hope some good news comes in the direction of comair, seems like it's about time for some.

what if the new contract was on par with your pool companies. Some food for thought, if you had the time 1.5 yrs ago you would be in the left seat of a CRJ now, but ill let you sit on your soap box in the right seat of a 172.

you'd be letting your grandpa down if you went to a regional period.
