Training
A question for you guys regarding the performance training at JFK. I’m scheduled for a class later in the month. Can I just show up on an earlier date without calling any one? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know for sure, but I would think it would be worth a shot.

Doubt there is anything in the works. They wouldn't spend the money to furlough people if this were imminent. I believe this is a cookie that is commonly dangled in front of everyone to smooth them over.

Basically waiting on Mesa to finish its death swirl down the regional lav! They've already done the planning to lease more aircraft if need be.

Don't take my word for it; look it up. Ask for a copy of the MOU from a status rep. See if there is anything in it that prevents the company from taking action against a pilot that is participating in ASAP. There isn't. The MOU protects the pilot's certificate from action by the FAA, and ensures the confidentiality of the information in the ASAP program, but if the company finds out about an incident outside ASAP the MOU does not prevent them from doing anything with it.
Don't take my word for it. Maybe I am lying and the MEC is telling the truth. Read it yourself.

MOU is generally a seperate document signed by ALPA, FAA, and company. It is not in the contract, because it is an agreement with the FAA as well.

But hey, first time this has happened in six years, right? Why not blow up the program and leave everyone's certificates exposed. Makes perfect sense.
