Quick ? for you guys.....I have not flown at all this month, and have yet to speak to scheduling (it's been nice) except for once to get released from my window. However I have not yet been notified about my windows for next month; I know I can acknowledge it on eCrapstro, but what happens if I 'forget' or just don't bother? I"m assuming scheduling will call eventually but if I am not notified am I responsible for my A window on Oct 1? Maybe someone else is or has had the same thing happen. Thanks

Just do yourself a favor and notify yourself. If you have any windows remaining in September, expect to get a call from them prior to October. If you self notify for next month, that's one fewer time that you have to talk to scheduling.

Question about being JM'd. A buddy of mine told me that the company was going to JM him into an off day last night while there were still reserves available. Can they JM a pilot while there are still reserves and ready reserves available?

No, pretty sure they can't. The problem is proving that there are reserves available.

If the company is not able to operate a pairing with a reserve pilot or a pilot whose name is on the applicable Extra Flying List, it may junior man a pilot to operate that pairing. Such an assignment will be in inverse order of seniority within the category and will comply applicable FARs and the terms of this Agreement.

A pilot will not be junior manned:

(1) Prior to 1200 hours, two (2) day prior to the scheduled departure of the pairing.
(2) Into a ready reserve assignment or a reserve day.
(3) On a scheduled one (1) day off in each seven (7) consecutive days.
(4) During the mandatory rest following a CD.
(5) More than two (2) days in a bid period or more than nine (9) days in a calendar year.

He copied the reserve list from last night and showed it to me. As far as I can tell, there were pilots on A6 and A7 available. He also said that there were guys sitting ready reserve and that the company said they didn't want to use the ready guys. I guess a commuter eventually volunteered for it. That is crazy though that they were planning on JMing him with an add-on into one of his days off while reserves were available.

I guess our pilots should adjust their attitudes to increase our moral?

What the hell are reserves for then? I've notice that lately they have tons of guys sitting ready reserve, and they won't use them unless they really, really have to. It think it is only going to get worse with the decrease in flying, they'll put more people on ready. Oh, and forget about getting released early!!

Some may say it's a long shot, but if Comair management continues on its current track they shouldn't be suprised if they try to call back furloughs and the majority don't come back. If they start calling back, then business is turning around which would indicate the industry moving to a position where airlines may begin to hire again. If that is the case and when that is the case you will see mass exits here. Comair will be the next Mesa.
