BUT... you have to follow the $$$money trail$$$ both ways.

Who pays more in ALPA dues? The 20-year Captain that takes an early out, or the 1st year FO on probation?

Looks like Mesaba is hiring... 2 classes in Sept and 4 in October . Check out the Mesaba thread - that's all I know.

Anyone with a little CRJ time and a computer with internet access might want to look into it.

If Comair keeps y'all furloughed until mid 2009 your seniority may come out way ahead by jumping over there. I'm tempted to go myself...

Andy, what additional costs are their associated with voluntary furloughs?

Mostly, health benefits

APC shows the upgrade time under a year... definitely something to consider...

Those are the Saab Street Captains they hired because NW was growing them so fast. They love bringing in Comair guys. Ask me how I know...

Sorry to hear the bad news, hope this doesn't last too long. How is this pull down effecting other departments, like inflight, customer service?

I hope Delta socks it to J.O. and "Messa" so Comair can start growing again.

I love how the same day he announces furloughs he also announces a Captains-Only luncheon in October. As if Comair will have any Captains left by then...

Come to think of it, the Vage won't be around for his October lunch either. He's due to rotate out any day now.

Comair is like a tour of 'Nam for the Delta execs. You go over for 365 days and then you rotate back to the world. You don't gotta do shiht but stay alive and take orders.

Customer service, ground ops and everything else has been more affected by all this. They've been cutting jobs at comair all year. 75 FAs are supposedly going to be furloughed, but they have voluntary programs, so the number wont be nearly as hurtful as it is to the pilots.

Nice to see somebody's union doing something....

Just saw in the Majors forum that the CAL pilots voted in favor of covering their furloughed pilots' insurance, that'd be a life saver if Comair pilots decided to do the same.
