This is a serious question guys! Does anyone know if a current line pilot has worked part-time as a crew scheduler? Would they allow it? We need someone on the inside! I think I meet all the qualifications...

Crew Scheduler (5 open positions)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School education or equivalent.
Hmmm... I have a Bachelors degree. Am I overqualified?
• Minimum 1 years-previous experience in a direct customer service contact position or within a Call Center environment required.
Check! I used to work in a liquor store selling kegs to college students and sometimes answering phone calls from students ordering their kegs.
• Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Check! Hell, I'm a pilot I have excellent problem solving skills!
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Check! Just read my posts on APC!
•Must have ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be able to prioritize tasks based on operational urgency.
Check! I can drink beer and make out with three girls simultaneously.
• Computer literate and a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Access required.
Check! I can log on to APC, write grievances in Word, track my duty times and Excel. Oh..oh, and I can make fancy PowerPoint presentations with funny sounds and animations.
•SBS, Toast and Fleetwatch software applications preferred.
Check! I know how to use SBS, I love Toast in the morning and I can learn fleetwatch! What is that anyway? Stand in the ramp tower with binoculars and watch the fleet?

I am totally qualified for this position! You guys would hire me, right?

you sir are disqualified because you would try to look ahead and solve problems before they arouse. you would also try to abide by the contract.

Besides, you wouldn't have the time to go through the 3 week training session. you would miss your RR's!

I don't feel like explaining why we lost nose wheel steering and 1/2 the brakes.
Just turn on the hydraulic pumps and you have everything like you normally would. I've had to taxi an airplane where the #2 engine was not to be started for maintenance reasons and it's not an issue. No special procedures in our FSM. Just use your head.

I believe we had a female pilot that went out on maternity leave or medical leave that became a full time crew scheduler until she got her medical back. It can be done. Let me know your extension when you get the job! (just me though - special treatment can't be given to all)

I doubt that they'd allow it with the duty time considerations you'd have.

Actually I think according to that FSM that procedure is only supposed to be used during de-icing.

At least they raised their standards. Their job posting for schedulers used to say "GED preferred". No joke.
