Comair updates?
#6513
My thought is that they are still somewhat hopeful that we will get some flying, after all Comair is the reserve airline. If they complete training then they wont have to go through all of it over again the next time around. Allows them to ramp everything up quicker. Maybe?

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine that they knew this about a month and a half ago. Those captains won't begin downgrades until September at the earliest, which is why the newhires are kept in the SIM. Elsewise, the SIMs(that are already paid for for July and August) might as well be used.

I think what most are trying to get at here is the fact that these guys need to get 100 hours withing the first 120 days, or they would be required to start training over from day 1 of indoc. I don't think it looks good that we would get any flying within the 120 days to save those guys, but stranger things have happened.
Found it:
§ 121.434 Operating experience, operating cycles, and consolidation of knowledge and skills.
(g) Except as provided in paragraph (h) of this section, pilot in command and second in command crewmembers must each acquire at least 100 hours of line operating flight time for consolidation of knowledge and skills (including operating experience required under paragraph (c) of this section) within 120 days after the satisfactory completion of:
(1) Any part of the flight maneuvers and procedures portion of either an airline transport pilot certificate with type rating practical test or an additional type rating practical test, or
(2) A §121.441 proficiency check.
121.441 essentially describes an MV/LOE.
So when they came back they would have to repeat the checkride then do the 100 hrs. That's my understanding.

If you want to keep your job, everyone needs to voice their concerns to someone who can make a difference.
As a fellow Comair pilot has said to me....
We as pilots need to take a stand!!!!
Call the MEC reps and tell them to start to represent US, who are going to lose our jobs if furlough mitigation isn't begun NOW.
Not just the senior guys who don't like the new scheduling software.
Call them and ask why we are getting furloughed and they are doing nothing about it. Ask why we pay the same dues as the older pilots yet we are the ones losing our jobs.
We are not to be used as a Barging Chip! The new software doesn’t mean nothing to pilots who don’t have a job to begin with!
Names:
1. Mark Cirksena MEC Chair [email protected] 859-409-8639
2. Fred Herman MEC Vice-chairman [email protected] 570-592-7566
3. Eric Jensen 832-451-7994
Put it in your phone and tell EVERYONE you see...lets speak up!!!

First of all, I can't believe this thread is still going. This has to be some kind of record or something. Secondly, I worked for Comair for 8 years, and was there during the strike. The one thing that Comair always had was a strong pilot group. The union is nice to have, but honestly ALPA is not looking out for the regional guy/gal. The most important thing is for the pilot group to be unified! Do not let Dave Soaper and the management divide you. Dave Soaper is a snake in the grass. Good luck!

Nah, I'm talking about further down the line. I don't know the finer points of the requirements when they come back whether the cutoff would be their checkride or if they have to get the 100 hours. My understanding was that they had to get the 100 hours within 120 days or they would have to repeat the checkride not the whole training course. This happened to someone I know at another airline, although I did hear about it second hand. If they get the type then get furloughed they are going to have to go through the checkride again anyway.
