I hear you, but the point was that in 2005 not many guys took the voluntary option who were senior to the theoretical furlough cut-off. The guys who took the option took it cause they wanted benefits. I just don't want guys to get their hopes up that senior folks are going to take the option to furlough.

Besides, I honestly think we are not going to furlough 300. No real data to back that up, just a feeling.

I’m only referring to the loss of flying at Comair.

According to him, nobody at this company has put more into it, or cares more about it than him. So he is going to ride this ship all the way to the bottom.

Know your contract and don't be affraid to defend it. If you find the company in violation, hold them accountable. They will pressure you and tell you that you don't have options. However, you do have options and ALPA WILL defend you. When I was on probation, I would treat things as small problems and usually do what the company wanted me to do. Knowing it was wrong, but for fear of getting in trouble I would just bite the bullet and do what was asked. After years of working here though I can tell you that I don't let them get away with anything now. I simply tell them no. This company asks you to take one for the team each and everyday and to go that extra mile and go to 15 hours for them. Do you think that when you need something they are going to rememeber that one time you took one for the team? NO WAY!

When in doubt, contact your reps. They will give you great advice and a peace of mind about your decisions.

As for the voluntary furloughs, I would agree as previously stated. I don't see many people taking them when gas is at $4.30 a gallon and the airline is so unstable.
So what you are saying is I should be happy that the union is not doing anything about the furloughs as long as I know my contract. What you’re saying does not make any sense. I want to know what is the union doing to reduce the number of pilots being furloughed?

I just read the thread on Air Whiskey dissolving their pool and that got me a little worried. What do you think are the chances that Comair does the same thing to their pool?

Where do you get that you should be happy out of that. My post doesn't say that. It says that I am happy that they are not being push-overs to Soaper and his Lorenzo type antics.

This is real. It is going on right now. So I am saying that you should know your contract to minimize the chance of the company trying to push you off of a bridge.

C'mon dude. Think about it. I am not going to hold your hand.

Also, I don't want to see anyone out of a job. I don't want to see anyone furloughed.

I do not need you to hold my hand. I do not see the union doing anything to minimize the furloughs. It seems to me that the union caters to the senior guys that are not affected by furloughs. I know my contract very well and I do not need anyone to tell me to read it. I feel that the union is dropping the ball because they are not able to communicate effectively with management. I do not pay management every month to protect my job, I pay the union. I expect some service for the union not and email stating that they are no longer providing full service.

Comair will no doubt pee in the pool.
