Question:

I put my standing bid in for 100% at the base I want to be in (JFK). If my seniority wont allow me to hold that, will I be displaced to CVG or furloughed?

If it is displaced (I think it is) what kind of $$ does comair have to pay for expenses?

If you are displaced, you are subject to some moving expenses being reimbursed. Please reference Section 6 of your Contract, as this addresses Moving and Relocation Expenses.

If your only bid is for JFK 100% and you can not hold that, they the computer will place in in whatever domicile and category you can hold. If you can not hold anything else, you are subject to furlough.

I would put more than JFK 100%. Put down every seat in every domicile.
My standing bid is:
CVG 70 CAPTAIN 100%
CVG 50 CAPTAIN 100%
JFK 50 CAPTAIN 100%
CVG 70 FO 100%
CVG 50 FO 100%
JFK FO 100%

Based on that order, the computer will process my bid and place me in the category which I can hold. If my only bid were JFK FO 100%, the computer would try to put me in JFK, but if I couldn't hold it, it would place me in the category and domicile that my seniority could hold.

What is the difference of a voluntary furlough vs. involuntary?

And what benefits do you keep on a COLA?

That is yet TBD. It is still in the process of negotiations. I can tell you that you do not accrue longevity while on COLA, furlough, or voluntary furlough.

Benefits, pass travel, etc. will be negotiated and probably announced in the next week or so.

If your bid was:

CVG 70 FO 20%
CVG 50 FO 100%

And say you just transitioned to the 70 back in, oh... I dunno, lets say May '08 (hoping it would only be a couple months until upgrade) and you can't hold the top 20% in the 70...

would this put you back in the 50 without seat-lock penalties?

So are you saying, that if i'm furloughed 9/1, and my 1 year mark is 9/10, it wont count? And if/when I ever come back it'll be to first year pay and not 2nd?

No, that is not correct. You will have to come back and be on active status for 9 more days to get to the one year mark to move onto second year pay. You would not have to start that whole year over again. So, theoretically, after recall, once you have been here for 9 more days, you move on to 2nd year pay and off probation.

I'm 99.938% positive that you are not subject to seat lock if you are displaced out of seat.

Let me edit my post here. If you put down lower categories or domiciles other than where you currently are in your standing bid, you may not be subject to relocation expenses. You have to force the company displace you into another domicile to be eligible for moving expenses. You force them to displace you by not bidding for it.

I will commute regardless, so for me, it is important that I put the domiciles and seats I want in order. If you want to live in whatever domicile you can hold, then force the company to displace you and let them pay for your moving expenses.

Clear as mud?
