I can assure you that it's not at 4 years. I am on my 5th year as of this month and before this news I was still between 30 to 40 from an upgrade in JFK.

I absolutely agree though. I would say upgrades are indefinitely out of the question. I am just hoping at this point to be able to hold a decent schedule once the bottom drops out. You know as soon as they cut those hours in September, our min line values are going to drop to 76 hours per month. That's an easy way to get money out of us. We won't conceed, so they will take it anyway they can.

Let's sit back at look at the big picture here. I am starting to wonder what is keeping me here. I think it is pretty safe to say that even on the cusp of an upgrade, it is at least a few years off now. Say I get an upgrade 3 or 4 years from now. I will be in my mid 30's. That is if this place is still afloat. A big if! Then I stay for 2 years to build the time to move on. They will be just getting around to picking up the people that were furloughed. Again if things actually got better. So I might sit for another 2 years trying to get picked up by a major. At this point I will have been with the company for 11 or 12 years. The majors will probably have lowered there pay to regional level pay scales by then and this company will probably be paying 12 year captains 48 to 50K a year.

Ok, I'll stop. I really am making myself sick.

Good argument, there. However, don't forget that just as recently as Monday, they were hiring 300. Things can and often do turn on a dime in one direction or another. We could just as easy be ramping up hiring again and have massive upgrades next week just as easy as we could be closing the doors on this place tomorrow. You just never know and it's always, always changing.

You know as well as I do that change is the only constant variable in this industry. I'm gonna steal Obama's line and say "Change you can believe in". I don't support Obama, but his slogan really fits here.

Yeah, I know. He is scaring me a little though I must admit. He preaches "Change is coming," however, he never says what change he has in mind. Have you read the bible? I am not trying to preach, take sides or anything like that, however if you compare him to the anti-Christ talked about in the book of Revelations it might just freak you out a little.

My grandfather and father are Baptist preachers. So yes, I have read a verse or two of the Bible.

It doesn't show up anymore, but as of a few months ago, if you typed in "Barack Obama" into a Google search, in the "Also Try" area towards the bottom, it showed "Also Try...anti-Christ".

I'm just as fed up with Republicans as well and have left the party as they have abandoned the core party principles. I am now a member of the Libertarian Party -- they seem to be more in line with a lot of the core principles of what the Republican Party used to stand for.

Absolutely!! I'm a bit upset that he's out now, so it's Bob Barr all the way for me.

If you ever see me walking through the airport, I have a sticker on my flight kit that says "Libertarian. Like Ron Paul." on one side and a Libertarian Party sticker on the other. Stop me and say hi!

Probably. I just didn't want to be the guy responsible for getting it shut down!

Time to get off this thing now. Phil Hendrie is about to come on!
