I believe its only if you have problems logging into Maestro. They make it sound like this was some big surprise. Every new system has its growing pains. I can remember when EclipsX was released and we (the ramp tower) had very limited training in it, and the system would crash almost daily. But we worked through it and ironed out all of the bugs. ALPA expects Maestro to be absolutely perfect and free of all bugs from day 1, and that is completely unreasonable.

Also, with ALPA's latest doom and gloom email, whats with them saying that we're already short staffed and it will be worse in July and August? People everywhere (even 700/900 F/Os) are complaining that they're not getting enough hours. I saw some JFK F/Os that only flew an out/back all May. Short staffed? Baloney!

According to that last vacancy bid thing that they put out that had crew totals. We're about

30 CVG FOs short (based on max values)
30 7/9 FOs short
and 30 fat in kennedy

Yeah but that's all numbers/targets/goals. I'm talking actual usage. The numbers say that we're short, but it seems like if we were at those target numbers reserves would be flying 10 hours per month.

Yes there are bad weather days that require greater staffing to cover. But 2-3 bad days a month has to compete with the other 27 days when we're overstaffed. Seems like the beancounters would rather take the losses on the 2-3 instead of wasting the rest on the 27.

My same argument as to why we have pilots and flight attendants on reserve for years. The company won't build the schedules accordingly.

700/900 FOs have been getting junior manned though, so I'll say the numbers look pretty accurate there.

Anyone else think its annoying that you have to acknowledge that there are no changes to your schedule before you can do anything? I think its dumb.

Ha! You got junior manned while already flying?

I got cleared for takeoff while climbing through 1400 feet just the other day.

I think it was a bad move to take sbs down that quickly. How long have they been running parralell for schedulers? A couple months? How long did pilots have to run paralell? 3 days? It seems as though this thing was rushed into service. ALPA said in the email that they cannot endorse it and we are under no obligation to use it. If I keep having problems logging in and closing my browser afterwards I will stop using it.
