The 900 climbs very well and doesn't dog out in the low to mid 20s like the 50 and 70. With 68-70 passengers on long haul flights it reaches 35,000 in 20 minutes. The airplane also slows at a slower rate than the 70, which is just a small consideration.
Since when does the CR7 dog out in the mid 20's? I thought it performed even better than the 900.
It's not that the cr7 dogs out but that it has a change from sustained 1500fpm to between 900 and 1200. Those pilots that fly V/S mode will notice a reduction of speed if they maintain rate of climb as they approach 24,000' and then a slight increase as they transition to Mach .76/.77 climb speed around 28,000. The CR9 from what I've seen doesn't do that.
Additionally, since the CR9 has so much more thrust and the wing has more area (and different winglet), it actually climbs even better than the 70.
Normally we climb unrestricted to 35,000 feet in 28 minutes at around 72,000 lbs from brake release in the CR7. The CR9 at 83000lbs will make the same climb in only 20 minutes. Both use reduced thrust takeoff and normal climb thrust as set by FADEC and PPAS speeds.

I know alot of you guys have issues with scheduling but i hope one day you come down and just sit with them. I had a F.O. sit with me for a few hours the other day while sitting Ready just to see what it looks like to have to make a decision who to call out, its not as easy as I would like it to be. I allowed him to make the decision who to call for what trip and he himself could get it right. Yes we make mistakes, the people you really should be mad at are the people up stairs who wont come off some money to improve there 30 year old sbs sysytem that doesent even use a mouse.
