Way to go ALPA! Another example of why people love and support you so much.

Anyone else get the letter in the mail stating that they've fixed the issue with our pass privileges and being charged the yield fare? Unfortunate, as I was really enjoying the free flying! Also, buddy passes will officially be gone for those that did not qualify for retirement.
All of this is effective March 20, 2013, so looks like we still have some time to get a few more flights in for free.

It's amazing how the story keep changes. When I emailed, I recieved a response claiming they were in the final stages. This sounded to me like we would recieve the checks in a month or two at most.
Now, we are hearing that the "auditors" are requesting more information which has been sent to them and is supposedly required my the Department of Labor.
1) I would bet that the "auditors" are from ALPA national.
2) If they have been sent the information already, it should be a matter of days to finalize the accounting protocols. Not another 6 months.
Public corporations must do a massive amount of accounting work to report quarterly financial data. Do they publish last quarters results 6 months or a year later? No. It is accomplished within weeks from the end of the quarter. It is much more money and much more complicated calculations.
Given the data we now have (ie the story changing from being in the final stages to only halfway finished), I can only come to one conclusion.
We will not be seeing this money ever. If we do see it at some point in the distant future it will be 10% of what we put in at most.
All the redundant accountings am am sure are conducted by ALPA and the merger fund is "billed" separate billing hours each and every time their accountants finish counting it all.
ALPA is using our merger fund as a Payroll for its accounting department. I am sure that ALPA lawyers who supposedly work on the memberships behalf have been hard at work ensuring that every dime ALPA steals from this fund is perfectly legal and defensible.
I was optomistic in the past. But, as you can tell, I have unshakable fears that the few remaining local members who were probably ready to mail out the checks have been handcuffed by ALPA national and National will now bleed the fund nearly dry.
It's not unheard of. I am sure that every dying organization has done something similar to survive longer.

The accounting on this fund isn't all that tough. I think the dismal finances of the cmr MEC thanks to JC will make it so I never see my money.

Any third grader could figure out this whole mess. You had x people give y amount. You multiply x and y and come up with z. You subtract a (the amount spent on some legal fees) from z which equals b. Now you take b/x and that equals what everyone gets who paid into the fund. Now all you have to do is print checks and put a damn stamp on it. I did the math in one minute and could print/mail checks in an afternoon. Is it that hard or am I over qualified to serve in ALPA? Friggin joke is what ALPA is!

I don't believe there is much of any recourse for those of us owed money back from this fund.
The only thing I could turn up in my own research was filing a Form 508 with the NLRB.
http://www.nlrb.gov/sites/default/fi...lrbform508.pdf
The only way I could see this making a difference is if the NLRB received hundreds if not a thousand of these forms from everybody affected.
It is a Macro idea and those seldom pan out. But who knows..... I have to believe that former Comair people have felt abused enough by their representation. Maybe there will be a massive response to this Bullsh#%t.
If ALPA did get an NLRB response from a 508.... can you imagine what they would say? After the RJDC and everything else?
