Glad things are working out for you though............

88 717s. 36 more 90s I believe. 100 737-900s. Some will replace older planes. But getting 61% of the domestic flying means we will be adding jobs. Simple. You can be bitter. But you also chose to stay there. I made the choice to leave 11+ years ago. Furlough stung but I always knew as long as the airline survived I'd come back. The regionals have never offered that stability. As long as your core product is farmed out labor you will always be at risk of getting cut. The end game at the regionals is beginning. With luck, that means the majors will take their flying back. You can stew about your fate. Or you can study for an interview and take control of it. I can tell you everyday I'm thankful for the path I've been blessed enough to have.

Just bc so many guys don't think there is anything else to do. Anyone under 31, work for ATC, that's the best gig out there. If you miss flying, go rent something.

Well some of us riding the ship down refuse to go work for another regional airline. I will not chase an upgrade. Gojets was the only gig in town for the quick upgrade. No one else has any movement!

Silver Airways has very quick upgrades. It's all about 121 PIC.

Oh, I didn't know that you didn't want to work for another regional airline. You should have said that right away. Text ENTITLEMENT to 555-quit for instant hire into 777. Hurry the 1st 100 people will get a Captains Slot at 227,000/yr. See you as I drive past the soup line.

Inav8or, it must make you feel pretty good kicking people while they are down. Stay classy, you perpetuate the reputation that your pilot group has always had. Keep up the good work.

BitterOHFO, as far as not wanting to start over, I completely understand your sentiment. I felt the same way. Furthermore, chasing the quick upgrade felt like I would only be hurting the industry more by participating in the race to the bottom.

There are jobs out there where you do not need to have PIC Turbine time. The pay will out-pace Delta pay throughout your career advancement. You will see parts of the world that you could only dream of as an international legacy pilot and you will start to look at the super-premium widebody 777 as a light twin.

Think outside the box a little and take the chance. If your at Comair, the grass on the other side of the fence actually is greener.

Good Luck!

First of all, its called tough love, if you read all the posts you will see that I was in a similar spot. That place has their pilot group so beat down. They all think they are not worth crap. And it shows. If you want to work there forever, great, but if you want to get a job at a major. Leave get your pic time and move on. There is no shame in that. The guys that choose to leave and get an upgrade will just be 4 to 5 yrs sr to you. We had a 6 yr cmr guy that left to start over at compass on the jumpseat a few weeks ago. He said leaving was the best thing for him and his sole.

I left after 6.5 years and it was the best feeling ever.

That's the dumbest thing I've seen....how is spending 12-15 years or more at a regional, and then not wanting to do that crap all over again for 20K on reserve with no upgrade in sight, entitlement?

Plenty of guys, including FOs with little or no TPIC, have moved on without going to another regional, or to a major, for that matter. If you're willing to look beyond just pax flying, other outfits have been doing lots of hiring.
