I would not be so mad if they were going to be hiring. They eliminated possibly 1000+ RJ jobs and gave work rule concessions to the company. They will not hire anytime soon and by the time they do we will all be months if not years out of currency. With the 900 50 swaps at the carriers that survive they will all be far on pilots and possibly furloughing. What are we to do? 100% boned. Hope I am wrong.
I'm usually very optimistic, and even at this point in time still believe good things might happen, such as Delta imploding. One can only hope. |

OK, as a former Cmr guy I feel your pain. But I can't believe you guys are so bitter. Jobs at the majors should be the be the goal of any pilot. More jobs at delta = more people behind me + less time at the regional level. I will say the same thing I have for 5 yrs. "If you don't want to work there anymore leave. 5000 Sic hrs in the crj = 5000 in an ultra lite. Go somewhere where you can get pic time and be at a major in 5 yrs. Or stay JAFO at cmr until you can get UE. And don't tell me there aren't jobs out there. Just make the sacrifice and move on. After 4.5 yrs at nwa/dal, I still make less than I did at that crap shack.

Remind me again how the Delta TA created Delta jobs. 717 will replace dc-9 757 767 that are getting old. All of those work rule "improvements" that were voted in will further reduce the number of Delta jobs that are out there. I am bitter and I have every right to be. Glad things are working out for you though............

I don't want to pile on, but I must admit I'm shocked at how many good guys I know that are still at Comair who are just apathetic about the whole thing and aren't doing much about it. I was looking to leave from the day I downgraded, but the Sept. 2010 announcement kicked the search into high gear.
I can understand the reluctance of senior captains (top 25%) to make a move, as anything would be a massive pay cut for them. I think they assumed that if they ever did downgrade, worst case they could be FOs indefinitely while they looked for a job. But for junior captains and FOs to not be out there shaking the trees (or finishing up that degree) for the past two years, that I don't understand. |
